Well basicly im able to order my heatsink today, and i was sure to get the TRUE, but since i saw IFX, i love the idea of a HUUUGE heatsink i could lap and overclock the heck out of my E8400....

But, im reading its not worth it.... so what does XS say?

True.

You've answered your own question.

I don't see any need for IFX. TRUE is easier to mount and easier to lap, not to mention cheaper. Temps will be the same.

I've had it since last summer and loved it.

Have both, prefer the TRUE.

Get the TRUE.
I lapped it since day 1 I bought it last year summer and it's still the best air cooler out there.
The temperatures are always roughly ~11 to 13 above ambient temperature. If room temp is 20 degree for example, my lapped TRUE on a non-lapped Q6600 G0 @ 1.48 Vcore and 3760mhz OCed is idling roughly 32~33 degrees.
With an excellent air circulation inside my Antec 900 case, it can bring TRUE its full potential.
The temp is very close to a water cooling setup but for a much cheaper price, easier installation and maintanence work.

IFX-14 for me. Worked great, lapping didn't help but for the back cooler changing the thermal pad did. Using 2 yate loon 14cm fans really quiet for me.

Sorry to arrive late to the party, but I have a supplementary question: The difference in price where I am (UK), between the TRUE and the IFX-14 is around $4, so should I automatically go for the IFX-14 if it will fit my motherboard?

if you like that huge look with more fans then sure (ifx-14). $4 difference isn't bad. Use a different thermal pad for the rear motherboard cooler ifx-10 which comes with it.

TRUE or noctua nh-u12p?

I must say that I like Noctua's mounting mechanism much more than the TRUE's.

yea but still it doesnt cool better then a TRUE
and TRUE mounts fine with the washer mod.

Lots of easy ways to make the TRUE's mount better. I use a couple layers of mastic tape (thick electrical tape basically)....increases pressure and has enough friction that it doesn't rotate any more. Plus no 'loose' washer to try to place in there.

Also did the same on my IFX-14's mount, though it didn't help as much.

I've had two TRUEs, one Xigmatek S1283, one S1284 and now I'm using the OCZ Vendetta 2....the OCZ is easily the best of them all IMO...I lapped my TRUEs and they still couldn't cool as well as the Vendetta 2...I think the Vendetta 2 is better than the other HDT coolers because it's fins are thicker...if they release the Vendetta with 4 heatpipes, it will destroy the competition....I did however, use a 110cfm fan with the OCZ whereas I used a 90cfm fan with all the other coolers.

Note - The Skythe Slipstream fan is amazing!

Get a IFX-14. I have one, its great. I idle at 36C at 3.6GHz and my load never does above 60C.

Yup! My E8400 never goes higher than [43C load] [33C idle] O/C'd @ 4.0ghz with 1.376 Vcore.

I only use a Scythe S-Flex 1600RPM, will change that for 1 or 2 Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000RPM soon ;)

Can't wait to see temps when I get a quad!
