My friend just graduated and is in CGI animation, as a gift his parents bought him a Quaddro 4600, he wants to still keep his 7950gt when he games and lans with some of us. He currently has an E6600 and just want's a motherboard that works, with two PCI-E slots that can run 8x each. Now if the 4600 has enough grunt to outperform the 7950gt even in games then he might just sell the 7950gt.
Since he's not overclocking and he's price conscious I was thinking the DFi P965 Infinity would be a good board. any suggestions? No need for overclocking or anything just want's something that will work well out of the box and has less hassles.

I would never buy old hardware, think if he wants to go for a quad (maybe yours ) or newer 45nm CPU end of this year... I would buy a decent P35 based mobo, since he's not into any OC'ing at this moment, any board will do ( Gigabyte P35DS3, Asus P5K, Abit IP35,...) and I would look for 45nm compatability...
the extra bucks will pay off in the long run... and there are P35 based mobo's from 90 dollars

An entry/mid level P35 isn't more expensive than P965 old boards. High end P35 boards are also very cheap these days. For his needs, I won't go above a P35 like the ASUS P5K or similar depending on the embedded extensions he needs
