Is it possible for NVIDIA to buy CPUs directily from Intel or AMD, and personally make MCM package of it with NVIDIA's own GPU?
E.g.:
Is it possible right now for NVIDIA to:
1. Buy an ATOM CPU from Intel
2. Buy an ATOM chipset package (NB + SB) from Intel that support ATOM
3. Make a new custom socket and motherboard, so that all of the above + one of their low-power GPU is integrated into that socket (with pins, traces etc.)
Dunno if the questions are quite clear, but I hope so :)

Intel wouldn't let them unless they payed dearly.

NVIDIA i believe will do something like this with VIA.
They already have something like this with ARM.

I would think so too, but could NVIDIA buy CPU and chipsets through an OEM, and still make it cost effective at present (a year or two before Fusion and Larrabee). They could perhaps already establish a market for a 1-chip-in-a-motherboard for now, I think

Please do tell and share information :) Would it work with VIA as a competitive platform as of now, or in the near future?

Well Intel & AMD wont give NVIDIA permision to do what you want since it will compete directly with them, but VIA has a completely diferent focus on the market and they would actually get a lot of money from selling their CPUs to be "embedded" with NVIDIA GPU or Chipset.
This is a rumor theory that someone told me and i do believe in it because it creates a win-win situation for NVIDIA and VIA.
P.D. On a timeine i'll say it is for future purposes close to the release of fusion or so.

NV wouldent do this it wouldent make any since, they dont have a low power decoder it wouldent be useful
for this to happen NV needs a new grafix platform, and this shows why they dropped their ultra mobile/pda platform, there is no profits in a low power small gpu with no market in the high end
on the other hand, getting VIA's x86 license and helping them develop and NV platform has been speculated, but NV has backed themselves into a corner no1 wants them for embedded platforms affter it was shown that the ps3 uses more power in the gpu aria but dosnt use it to render and that ati cut prices on hd decoders they are boxed into PC grafix and now even HP is ditching their integrated chipsets so that leaves a discrete grafix market only
