Stalker Clear Sky - Who else is salavating?

I loved Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. I can't wait for Clear Sky. The DX10 effects, especially the rain, look absolutely incredible. I really can't wait for that game. I'm so stoked that they are going to continue the series. I loved it so much that I've been working on my own game inspiried by this one for over a year now. Based on how things are going currently, I won't be done for another 3 years. If anyone is curious about that I posted a thread in the developers area. It's called M~Theory and is similar in concept to Stalker but story is total unrelated. I same similar because it is also a FPS/RPG.

Who else is excited about this game? Stalker is by far my person fav.

Does anyone have the most recent, real/accurate release date info? I hear August 29th and that's what's posted on the Official Stalker site. I hope that's true cos if so that would be :up::clap::yepp:

STALKER, what an amazing game. I must admit the atmosphere was immense. My only beef was that ammo weighed so much? I know its stupid but I didn't like having to micromanage my inventory every 5 seconds :). True to the roaming around concept. The enemies where somewhat interesting, and the gunfights felt pretty tactical. I must admit i wasn't a fan of the storyline, it seemed confusing most of the time and the nuclear fallout seemed somewhat dull.

For me its really up on my list, along with system shock and deus ex :)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was a very special game to me (after a few custom alterations). I am really looking forward the sequel, but I desperately hope the game is in a state that live up to its potential. The original could have been so near-perfect, if it was executed and finished like it was intended. I have a love for Russia that is kinda odd.

My only beefs with Stalker are:

1) Graphics in general seemed kind of grainy while the detail was amazing.
2) After you disable the Brain Scorcher, the storyline pushed you to the end... there seemed to be no going back.

Eagerly waiting the new one... hopefully it doesn't fall what, 4 years behind schedule? :rolleyes:

I am very pumped for Clear Sky, STALKER is definitely my favourite FPS of late. Besides the ending(s), the game was awesome. If I could only play one new game of 2008, it would be STALKER: Clear Sky.

It's awesome, the reactor room's detail [placment of the UBS, and the empty reactor vessel, everything but the "wish granter" is perfect] from videos I've seen in the room in real life... funny thing is that 9x39 ammo is cheaper than 7.62x54r [7.62x54r is 15c a round in real life, and a real example of 9x39 [especially SP-6 AP] would sell for over $50 a round] Also with the VSS [vintar bc in game] you can see the bullet drop is more than with the SVD, that's attention to detail!!!

STALKER is a good game...
BUT! Once you install this mod called Oblivion Lost (http://stalker.filefront.com/file/Oblivion_Lost_10005_release;91748) the game jumps to a whole new level. Original game seems kinda half-baked after you try OL2... ;)

heres a couple stalker clear sky pics of the same spot with 2 different lightning bolts going on. i will keep adding more for you guys and gals to show you how it looks and maybe you might buy it:) this game rocks i love it. its the russian version converted to english(hehe). everything maxed out and nvidia control center forced 16x and 16x but not sure if its working. resolution is 1440x900 and get no lower than around 70 fps in intense battles and as high as 200fps. forgot this is xp(dx9)

For those salivating in anticipation for Clear Sky;
- the game is butt-ugly atleast in XP (no DX10), minor improvent compared to unmodded SoC (= worse than modded SoC),
- antialiasing is broken (as in SoC)
- video memory leaks are common (as in SoC)
- textures are poor quality considering how the game hogs video memory
- user interface is actually worse than in SoC (wth?!?)
- quests are mindless (there's no need to actually pay attention to them)
- maps are virtually identical to SoC, (ok, there are few new maps but some were also removed)
- ridiculous weapons (far, far from anything remotely realistic)
- weapon sound effects are utterly laughable - you can't tell if someone is shooting at you with a fixed heavy machine gun from 100 meters away, all you hear is "flap-plop-pop" when bullets start hitting around and at you (guns are supposed to make some noise you know?)
- difficulty levels are nerfed to retardness (enemies gain shooting accuracy and deal more damage to you - while yours are decreased)
- feels like a half-assed expansion rather than a full priced sequel
- owners of SoC are better off with kickass mods like Oblivion Lost

^Not worth my money. :down:
