I recently purchased this MSI motherboard and am curious to hear thoughts, comments, raves, and rants about it. So far it's done nothing but cause me agrivation but then again I have little patients. So curious if I wasted my money or if it has redeeming qualities.

875P NEO-FIS2R (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=875P_NEO-FIS2R)

Also the fact that it's red does not count as a redeeming quality.

Much better then your first post :D Welcome to Xtreme! Well I don't have the 875, have an 865, but it basically suffers the same as yours. I think/hope MSI will get a REAL bios released for the CW/SD boards. If they are able to do that I think it will actually end up being a pretty decent board. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they can get it together before the board is outdated :(

Welcome to Xtreme Forums ! Glad to see you here ! ;)

I think the MSI is a solid board, great voltage options for OCIng but like Ruantic points out they just havn't got the Bios quite right yet.

First thing I would do is to flash the bios to this one !!

http://www.xtremesystems.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownload&cid=1

It offers the best performace/memory options of any of the 875P bios files.

Kunaac is having fun with his MSI 875P Neo and hitting some great numbers. Look for some of his posts and it might give you some insight.

Good luck !

I spoke with MSI in length today, the bios was my main concern at the moment and getting it fixed.

It will not hold memory timing nor will it hold the 1:1 ratio at high FSB.

With any luck we should see a new bios soon.

Good to know Fugger, I've still got my 875P destined for my son's Koolance rig and would like to see a solid bios.

Kunaac has found a work around for the memory timing issues, I beleive he has been using Core Center to change timings ? I looked for his post but couldn't find it. I'm sure he will respond in this thread when he sees it.

132 OPP BIOS< thats all.

just get it, don't think, trust me, trust OPP, he knew the goods, and I can confirm EVERY problem with the MSI is gone from the 132.

cas control under all conditions.
no limit to ram ratios, boot all the way to 400 at 1:1 if you can ;)

great Bios.
no pat control.
the Past it stuck on "Fast", comparing the 160 and 170 Bios to the 132, I found I get the exact same Bandwidth as the Fast setting in the 160 and 170 Bios.
but those BIOS's suuuuuuuck.

132 Opp Bios.
it's the only thing that kept me from throwing this board out the window :)
