I'm not sure how many you guys have seen but this is the 3rd that i've seen in a while.. first time i've ever seen one in person from a peice of hardware I owned.

There's a very impressive one if I can get the owner to post it ;)

This picture is of a plastic backpiece to an ATi Radeon X1800 Mobility that has given me issues since I first purchased the laptop it came in pretty much. A few days ago it "gave up the ghost" and I couldnt get into windows with it so I pulled it out and that peice of plastic fell off the back (it sticks pretty good usually). I have never had it off before. As you can see there is an image of the core burned into the plastic.

How?

how was it mounted to the card?
what is the white stuff? thermal grease?
are you 100% sure it never touched the gpu directly, like when you assembled the whole thing?

white stuff is just some TIM that was on my finger when I picked it up probably. The black peice never came off the back of the card before those pictures, Saaya.

It must have touched the core at some point. maybe during assembly somebody stuck it on the wrong side and then switched it back.

maybe when you wanted to mark the holes on the insulation you put it on the front side of the card, and it left a slight mark but not visible and then over time there was some reaction so now it shows the logo? i cant really believe the printing travelled through the entire card... somehow... :D

its easy i guess... just try to reproduce it...
if you can reproduce it then we def gotta rework the quantum theory or something

It came on the card right from the factory.. then was put in a laptop and shipped to me. Could be some doof at Alienware put it on the core I guess.

Either way the really impressive one hasnt been posted yet... come on Rol-Co! ;)
