Does the 18w have a big improvement on performance? Can I mod a Danger Den DDC-12V into an 18w??

Saw a thread where a gentleman performed some sort of "solder mod" and claimed to have increased the power of a ddc-2... Have to find it, didn't bookmark it...

Yes, the DD DDC-12 can be modded. (it's nothing more than a rebranded Laing DDC 3.1)
It improves performance quite a bit, voids your warrenty, and increased heat dump into your loop.
(was that for or against? dunno :))
Here's how (http://forum.effizienzgurus.de/f23/howto-laing-pro-zur-ultra-umloeten-t1106.html?referrerid=29#overview)
Extremly easy, just a little glob of solder. And you can reverse just as easy. So give it a try..
And it's to change a DDC 3.1 into a DDC 3.2 (9 to 18) Not the ddc-2.
