Is there an official I love Petras Tech Shop thread? If not, we should make one.

I've purchased hundreds of dollars worth of stuff from them and have never had a bad experience. I'm largely active on OC.N and all I recommend to noobie watercoolers is PTS. Thanks for making a great store for the enthusiasts and your terrific customer support!

PS: Next time you get an order from gnrfan228, can I get a blue pen please? I've never gotten a blue one :p:

They have become my favorite cooling parts online store ever! They not only have good prices but they don't screw you over at all. I just ordered a few clips because I'd completely forgotten to order them with my last big order. instead of charging me full shipping they stuck them in a padded envelope and only charged me like 2 bucks. Not to mention they have the best return policy's ever and aren't afraid to bend the rules a little to please their customers. How many places are willing to go that extra length for their customers?? I can't think of another place!!

Btw... so far I have green and red pens.... are there any other colors? I may be ordering again soon lol.

I have to second a thread on I love PetraTS! Placed an order yesterday, 5 mins later phone rings. The didn't have the amount I order, offered to upgrade me for free and still ship it out that day. Petra's customer for life right here!

Wednesday evening at 7:50PM EST I ordered 14 fans from them....8:09PM EST I got an email saying it was shipped. Today at noonish I received it...via USPS Priority. Less than 36 hours from ordering to receipt (from Cali to Michigan), can't beat that. Had a handwritten note from Brian (I think) and a green pen (which I combined with my orange pen to make a carrot pen!)...which is awesome. And when I went to order, I noticed ~6 fans I needed were listed as out of stock...contacted Petra via PM here and turned out to not be an issue :D

The other day I ordered 3 tubes of MX-2 from them, at 6:30pm, got an email saying it was shipped at 7:10, I got it the next day at 1:20pm. Thats only 15hr, thats QUICK!

We're still waiting for Yate Loon to finish/ship our latest order--hopefully it won't take more than about two weeks for all of that stuff to arrive (but we do have some new fannage with this shipment, so it should be worth the wait ;) ). The NMB/Panaflo 120x38's arrived this morning and I'll have them up shortly.

We really do appreciate all of the positive comments... they're one of the main things that make what we do here feel so rewarding. :up:

Quoc, was very helpful. He worked with me via email on a waterblock issue that I had. I will say that PTS is top notch. If they have what I need I will buy it from them due to the service.

I have gotten a couple of things from them and they are always helpful, even when it takes me a few weeks to actually order stuff from them. They have always answered my e-mails and instead of trying to up-sell me, they have given me great advice on my w/c setup and since I am a definite noob to w/cing it's great to know that when I order something from them I will get the right gear for the job.

On a side note, Alex and crew, thanks for adding some additional shipping options. You guys really do care and listen.

I got about 5-6 blue pens. I actually thought that was the only color they send until I ordered something a few weeks ago, I got a green pen. Now this thread, I realized they got more than two colors. :)

The only thing I really like about Petra's Tech Shop is that they process and ship your order much quicker than I could ever click X to close a window.

The way the fans are presently manufactured it wont happen. Yate-Loon uses cheaper plastic in the led fans and if the blades spin too fast FRadial gets to be too much for the housing to take and you get some nasty vibrations.

So, high speed led fans aren't likely unless there are some major changes in respect to the plastic used.

I don't know why the pens are so popular, but after hearing folks talk about them, I really wanted one. I placed a small order for some pentosin and pt_nuke and asked for a pen in the comments section, and I got a red one! It was the first think I looked for when I opened the package, which is pretty pathetic. I will definitely buy from pts instead of performance-Ishipyouthewrongtubing&trytomakeyouthinkitstherighttubing-pcs. Alex, get some Feser Caribbean Blue tubing and I will order it from you!

I would agree that Petra's and more specifically Quoc are top notch. When I had the idea to start selling my brackets the first people I approached was Petra's. They were great and totally supported me and encouraged me. Quoc was very honest and a pleasure to deal with. Believe me he is as nice to his vendors as he is to his customers. I was a customer before I started selling stuff to him and I guarantee I'll be a customer after I'm done. The guy is as honest and genuine as they come. By the way I could only find my orange pen!! My daughters stole all the rest of them!

This time, I chosed the cheapest shipping option with USPS to Belgium and the package arrived 5 days later here, on thursday.

Petras is awesome! I've been ordering from them off and on now for the past year or so and ever since the beginning they have given me great customer service. The first few times I ordered from then using UPS ground and they changed it to USPS Priority for me to save me a few bucks, it wasn't until later that I realized that they were so close to where I live, thanks guys for being awesome. Just this morning actually Alex called to verify an order for me since the fan I wanted was out of stock, it's this kind of personal service that makes them great, so thanks petras!

I ordered about $250 worth of computer goodness 2 weeks back. It was shipped on May 9th and it arrived today on May 20th, here in the Netherlands. Excellent pricing and excellent customer service, and to my surprise, a pen was included. Luckily the customs didn't decide to mess with my package, overcharge me with taxes and steal my pen, so it got here fairly quick. :)

In all the builds I've ever done I've never come across a one stop shop for everything i needed (not with water cooling, air cooling, or anything) I always find myself buying more after the first order going i wish I could have gotten all this in one place. but it never works that way. Thats why Petra's is awesome they go out of their way to get you the stuff as fast as possible and if they can they even try to save you a few bucks on shipping. In my recent build I ordered a cathode kit from them. One of the cathodes was shot and I called them up and they're sending me a new kit no charge. That I must say is awesome.

Hey... Petra's is on like, Pen v2.0! I just ordered some new parts to update my loop after exloding my last motherboard, and the pen is different than the one from this time last year. Bonus points for Quoc's note: they remembered me! Actually, the sales system probably remembered me, but I'll take what I can get. Very cool, but would be cooler if I would learn to not order on Saturday night, because waiting through Sunday sucks.

I shop Petras FIRST, then if they don't have what I need I resort to Google.

It's amazing how a group of enthusiasts can become emotionally attached to a supplier with great reps. I often receive a nice hand written thank you note from them as well as a pen. But, let's face it, we don't love Petras because of the pens. We love Petras because of the outstanding customer service and fair prices. If I find something a couple of dollars less somewhere else, I'll still by from Petras because a) I want to see their business succeed, and 2) I know that if there's a problem they'll stand by their product and act quickly to resove it. I shop Petras FIRST, then if they don't have what I need I resort to Google.

It's amazing how a group of enthusiasts can become emotionally attached to a supplier with great reps. I often receive a nice hand written thank you note from them as well as a pen. But, let's face it, we don't love Petras because of the pens. We love Petras because of the outstanding customer service and fair prices. If I find something a couple of dollars less somewhere else, I'll still by from Petras because a) I want to see their business succeed, and 2) I know that if there's a problem they'll stand by their product and act quickly to resove it. This is the customer service we deserve, need and like to reward with our business. I just wish other companies would have this same love of customer service. This man speaks the truth, so many companies are just about the sales volume, treat their employees like stink and their customers worse. Personal customer service goes a long way. I have to disagree that Sidewinder or PPC's has lower prices. Maybe I am just looking at the wrong items. I do feel price does come into play when buying an item, but so does customer service. I think that the 10% difference between them and the lowest price I can find on the net is well worth the level of customer service that Petra's delivers. I only wish they had a larger selection, but I do not know of any one-stop shops. I will buy items based on several factors, price, knowledge of the staff, selection and a few others. Petra's does a pretty good job of hitting the majority of these and therefore when I can I buy from them.

One of the reasons I think they outclass PPC is that they will ship small things via first class mail.

I was purchasing a couple black nylon 90 degree barbs and a T fitting and PPC wanted something like 8 bucks to ship them and refused to ship via first class.

So I ordered elsewhere and refused to do business with them. Kind of drastic? Yes, but if they can't do something so simple to help a guy out then they don't deserve any of my money.

Back to Petras though... I'm placing an order with them as soon as they get the fuzions in stock again, and seeing as I can't buy tygon tubing anywhere locally I have to buy it online, so I check Petras. I got some bitspower compression fittings (3/8ID, 5/8OD) for fairly cheap and since the only other thing I needed to order is the CPU block I wanted to get it all at once.

Petras doesn't have 3/8-5/8 Tygon tubing so I emailed Alex and asked him why they don't carry it out of curiosity and how the Masterkleer holds up since they do have that in the size I need. To my surprise he emails me back telling me he's gonna check the local shops to see if anyone carries 3/8-5/8 Tygon R3603 tubing.

I don't know any other shop on in the world that is willing to go hunt down something they don't even carry for a single customer. THAT is why I try to buy everything I can at Petras. Its well beyond just customer service. This is like having a friend that owns a shop and when you call them up they take care of you. And from what I've seen thats how they treat everyone and it's not just a one time thing. Over and over again Petras makes me think "I wish every store treated me like this." If i was clever I'd come up with a new term to describe the relationship between Petras and its customers because they don't make you feel like a customer but more like a friend.

I may sound extremely partial but until I find another shop that treats me like Petras does I have damn good reason to.

Never ordered from Sidewinder, but I have ordered from PTS, Newegg, Jab-tech and Xoxide.com. From Jab-tech I get my stuff the quickest, from Newegg I usually get the best price but the worst service, from Xoxide, not much to say about them, but from PTS, I get great customer service, reasonable/fair prices, decent selection and great turn around on shipping. Oh, and I also get my e-mail questions answered as though I was talking with them in the shop. Look, we all have our favorite place to buy certain items, some will swear by Newegg, while others wouldn't buy anything from them if they were giving it away free. My point is, that you have to weigh your needs and what you are looking for in customer service against price and selection. There is no doubt that PTS does not carry everything, but I don't know any site that does. There is no doubt that PTS is slightly higher than Newegg or some of the other places out there. And there is no doubt that for me the customer service from PTS is one of the best I have seen or experienced. I think all of the places that have been mentioned in this thread are great places to shop, they sure beat Tiger, Comp, Best Buy and Circuit City in every category I have mentioned. If you think the place you shop is the best, great, start a thread and see what other people think. If you read completely through this thread you will see that no one has had a bad experience at PTS. Sure, you might be able to find a lower price by a couple of bucks, but I doubt you will find a better place for customer service. This of course is just my opinion.

I don't think anyone is trying to start a flame war and no one's even saying anything bad about sidewinder. Only thing I was pointing out was this thread was started to talk about Petras and how we love them for what they do for us. Not sure what you mean by Gary is helping us even if we don't buy from him and i'm not sure where you got the whole proprietary rights thing from. But I have nothing against sidewinder or their prices and I've never had a problem buying from them or anything like that. I prefer buying from petras just for the fact that I enjoy dealing with them.

As for my tubing I would have no problem buying from sidewinder, but that would mean paying shipping in 2 different places. I'd rather order from one place and pay shipping once and the fact that petras is putting that extra effort to make that possible is why this thread was started in the first place.

Not to mention since people aren't coming to this thread to talk or read about sidewinder a lot less people who actually have bought from them will be here to add support. Like i said previously and Utnorris repeated you could have easily made a thread just like this one for Sidewinder. I'm sure everyone thats in this thread would read that one the same as they've come to this one.

Okay, here's my experience with Petras. I ordered an MCP355 and some odds and ends, had it shipped via USPS Express Mail and from email order to delivery it took just 4 days. It got through customs without problems and now I have an DDC3.2 sitting here waiting to do it's job (it'll take some time before I can install it, but yay, it's here!). I'm really happy that I placed my order with Petras, they're friendly and obviously hardworking! Petras ftw!

It wasn't even out of stock. They didn't stock 3/8ID 5/8OD R3603 Tygon AT ALL. They started stocking it just because I called asked them if they could get it so I didn't have to order from multiple places and pay shipping twice. This is actually the first time I've ever heard anything bad about petras. And honestly I've talked to both Alex and Quoc and can't say I've ever had them talk down to me. And none of my friends have ever had a bad experience with them either. Was this recently or a while ago?

Why is everyone blaming the customer? I believe him when he says that he got treated poorly. He is frustrated and rightly so. PTS people are humans, and things like this can happen. They are no gods. The best stores on Earth have flaws. There is no exception.

He can cooperate with Petra if he wishes to do so, but he has no obligation to do so because they treated him like crap in the first place. Any sort of involvement at this point is a courtesy from the customer, not an obligation. Suggesting that it's the customer's fault for not cooperating 3+ months after purchase is stupid and wrong.

I, and I don't think anybody else, has EVER heard something rude come out of one of their mouths. I am not saying that they don't make mistakes, but to those of us that have been to their warehouse, and seen how clean and SUPER organized they are, there is no doubt in my mind that Clue69Less is full of crap. Just last weekend I was staying in a hotel next to the great mall (about two miles from them) I knew I could save on shipping since I was staying near them and placed an order for a couple of fittings I needed, and drove to the warehouse about ten minutes later. Before I got there they already had the order out on the front table with my invoice ready to sign and go. They are VERY organized, they are VERY honest, they are VERY helpful. This is the first time I have ever ONCE heard of a problem with PTS, and it sounds like this guy just has sand in his (dancing banana).

The very moment petras heard of a problem, they tried to make contact with him, and that went sour.

As I mentioned in my PMs, I'm looking for confirmation and what you provided in that image was enough to point me in the right direction--searching through all orders in January '08 which contained EK Supreme waterblocks as the first line item.

If you are who I think you may be as as result of my search, then you didn't call us (hence the confusion)... you e-mailed me, there was no mention of thermal paste, there were a couple scratches outside of the contact area (no markings within the contact area, which would have served as an obvious indication of use), some mismatched hardware, and a damaged hardware baggy. Now, again, if I'm right, you were offered a replacement waterblock, you declined and, instead, settled for a set of replacement hardware which was sent to you promptly. I have a tracking number for the hardware with confirmation of delivery and all e-mail records.

No one is beating up on you anymore as far as I can tell. From what I know about Alex he's just trying to figure out what went wrong for himself since it's his business. And if you really want to stop beating a dead horse I would suggest just letting it go. Everyone else on here has moved on to talking about pens again. I personally have no problem with you or what you've said as I already stated as long as there are no more personal attacks.
