Yes, just about the fastest 7200 rpm drives out. Why not get the 1TB and just get it over with?

Certainly nothing wrong with it at that price. If you're in the market, I say go for it.

It's certanly worth it. It's very cool, silent and fast. Oh and cheap :) I was thinking of 1TB drive too but diference between 750GB and 1TB version was just too high to be worth it for now.

those seagates are much slower and use much slower and less reliable platers

the samsung has a 5x 166GB, and i think that seagate has 6x 133GB, and samsung has better build quality and is the only raid class that cheap

5x 166GB ? SAMSUNG is using 334GB platters totaling 3 platters and 6 heads (2 per platter).

no it has the same platers as the 500GB, if it were the other it would be a duel plater 640GB or 3 plater 1TB

hes talking about the 750GB, f1 = server, not 330GB platers

if it is the 330 disks then thats even better

Read and learn:
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/productmodel.do?type=61&subtype=63&model_cd=248

It's using 334GB platters.

Otherwise both, Desktop and Enterprise versions of SpinPoint F1 750GB 32MB use 334GB platters.

No, no, NO! YOU read and learn. This has been discussed and proved in multiple places on this forum.

The 500Gb/750Gb F1 drives do NOT have 334Gb platters, they have the slower 250Gb platters. Only the 320Gb/640Gb/1Tb drives have the fast 334Gb platters.

The transfer speed of the 750Gb drives has been shown conclusively to be WAY less than the 1Tb model, because the data density on its platters is NOT the higher one.

The link you gave says "Max. 334GB Formatted Capacity per Disk". That's marketing-speak for the WHOLE F1 range, not "proof" that THIS particular model has 334GB per platter.

Start at post 48 and note benches on page 3. This is an OLD thread.

Can you back up this claim? I'd especially like to see evidence proving the "less reliable" statement.
