Just wondering,
I'm gettin' foooking sick of XP recently, Just wondering, is it possible to get vista running dx9? or is it dx10 and dx10 only?
In my opinion there's not really that much eye-candy with dx10 anyway

ah, jeez, fast reply.
Anyway, yes i know it'll run dx10 games..
but, lets say cod4 or crysis, i don't want to run at dx10, is there anyway to run on dx9?
Like i remember in CoD2 you can change whether to play on dx7 or dx8(I think?) :(

Like I already said, yes it will run DX9 games in Vista. You shouldnt have to change anything. I can run COD4 in XP and Vista (COD4 isnt dx10 anyway). Crysis has a DX9 .exe file I believe.

You can right click on the link to start the game and select DX9 Mode.

just download DX9 setup as you would in XP, that will add DX9 support to Vista (as DX10 is not retro compatible)

relaunch that downloaded file once a month to update: dxwebsetup.exe

Yea you change to DX9 if you want, i know Bioshock had this option also.
Why would you want to run dx10 games in dx9 anyway? Sounds silly to me. There is no real performance loss anymore so i dunno why you would want to do this

Oh, stupid me.
I thought that even if you had DX10 while playing a DX7 game..
It would somehow become DX10 :')
but then I realised..
So, what you're saying is that there wouldn't really be much difference if I were to play my games on vista as opposed to xp?

Unless its a DX10 game, you are correct.

Ah, sweet then..
I've only got like 2-3 DX10 games, so that's cool.
Just out of curiosity, is there anyway to run a dx10 game @ dx9 or below?

Unless the games dont include the option then yes there is, it should be in the video options of the game, bioshock had this option.
Oh and yes if you play games that are older dx9-dx8 ect they only run in dx9-dx8 heh.
