how is it possible for something to suck so incredibly bad? i could host the asus website from my blackberry and it would be exponentially faster. i can't even download a 1.5mb file from their :banana::banana::banana:ty site without it timing out. i need 1 damn file, and i can't get it because thier site costs 3 cents.

You noticed
I always had better luck downloading from the US servers (for a given value of better luck - ie. 12kb/s as opposed to 3kb/s from the European servers). Thank god BIOS files are so small.

they have servers? I always assumed from the download speed that someone would write a bios first, then save it to a floppy disk (the old 5,25" kind) then travel to (insert 3rd world country of choice) and there wait a week until they can find someone with an internet access to upload it for them with their pre world war 2 era prototype of a computer they found somewhere on a local dump.
^or something along that line.
you download stuff on the website after you paid for the hardware, it clearly shows how much the company cares about you once they have your money.

seriously. they could pay $50/year and host their site on godaddy and it would be 1000x times faster.
i could learn how to write drivers, and write them myself before they download from asus.

All that is true and heaven help you if you are searching for drivers for an older asus board. You can find them, after about 36 hrs. of searching. probably eaier to hack the website yourself in about 2seconds lol

yeah the Asus site is a nightmare, and that for years. I once spend hours trying again and again to download a mobo manual...pdf stopped dowloading before completion...trying chinese servers, EU, US...oh god  not to mention that their localized sites are incomplete concerning the range of products; only the global site is OK. I never cared, but I can easily imagine people going nuts when they don't understand English, and half of the motherboards are missing on their localized site (same for CoolerMaster by the way)

yeah no kidding its slow. Record fast speed I've downloaded from them is 25KB/sec. Usually around 10-15KB/sec.

Yes, their website is horribly slow, even the US servers you can select for downloading files. I have recently chosen servers in China for my best results. That website is so frustrating when all you want is a file to make your board work.
