Im just consulting myself about this buy, im in new zealand and i have a change to be able to get a 2nd hand HP L2035 (S-IPS panel) 20" 1600x1200 with a 3 month warranty screen + some New Sennheiser HD555's OR get just a new 22" Samsung 2232BW screen, which would be the best? both options will cost the same.

If they cost the same then why would you short change yourself with a second hand and smaller screen? Get the 22" wide screen monitor. The 20" is a ripoff if you can get a nice Samsung 22" wide for the same price.

Headphones are a nice bonus but I'd still rather have the wide screen display. Having a wide screen is almost as good as running dual monitors. I can do without the headphones. No doubt they are a nice set and retail for about $180 here in the US. But if you really like them then go for it. But if its the monitor you really need then my vote is for the wide screen.

I'd go with the 20" SIPS and new senns, or the second hand 24" depending on the panel (m-pva, sips, but not tn)

the only 24's in my budget are TN panels, and thats whats putting me off the 22's as well, they are all TN's

I wouldn't go with a 1600X1200, regardless of the deal. Widescreen is unbeatable.
HD555's aren't that great anyways. I have six different full size headphones, three DAC's, and three headphone amps. I've heard the HD555's and they are "meh", at least to me anyways. Go over to head-fi.org and you'll see most people feel the same way about them. There are a few that like them, but a thousand that don't. :p:
To each their own.

interesting; i've come to the same conclusion. size matters particularly when 24" is not bad for watching HD video also (in my opinion)
