if you mean the standard HR-03 then yes, you may need heatsinks on the VRMs though.

If you go to the Thermalright website and check the compatibility with the various HR-03's, the standard HR-03 is NOT compatible with your videocard. That is for the older G80 version, NOT the 8800GTS 512 G92.
The rev.A is listed as compatible, but the better choice would be the HR-03GT, which is made for the G92 8800's, and properly covers the PWN IC . It comes with all the other ramsinks required.
See this link, scroll down to HR-03GT FAQ:

Sorry what?

HR-03 standard and Rev.A DO fit G92 8800GT and GTS
http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/vga/vga_page/main_product_hr03_rev_a2_MCL.htm

also, because I've personally fit a standard HR-03 on my old 8800GT, and it fits perfectly.
You only need a few extra heatsinks for the VRM.

To the OP, if you already have a standard HR-03 left over from a previous card, just use that it works like an absolute charm.
If you're looking to buy a new heatsink then I recommend the HR-03GT since it comes with extra heatsinks for the VRM.

O.K., I think the confusion with all of this lies in which actual model of HR-03 we are looking at. Thermalright currently has four different HR-03 models listed: HR-03 R600 which is the ATI card model, the three others are for Nvidia: HR-03 Plus, which is said to be only for the G80 cards, the HR-03 Rev.A, which does fit the G92, and the HR-03GT which is made specifically for the G92 cards.
When I said the "standard" HR-03 is for G80's only, I was referring to the HR-03 Plus, not the HR-03 Rev.A. Both the HR-03 Rev.A and the HR-03GT do fit the G92.
So, what is the "standard" HR-03? If you mean the Rev.A, then yes, it fits.
But if you mean the HR-03 Plus, and you say that you have fitted one on an 8800GT, then I stand corrected.
I had an HR-03 Plus which I fitted to my old 8800 GTS 640 G80 card. Incredible cooler. I bought an HR-03GT to fit on my 8800GTS 512, but didn't get to use it since I sold that card and bought the 9800GX2. Think I have any chance of stuffing the HR-03GT in my GX2?:D

All of the HR-03's fit the G92 cards I believe, but their accessory heatsinks for use on the PWM IC's and RAM chips differ.

I could be wrong though.

does the hr 03 gt version fit the 9800gtx?

Yep, and it does a super job, my 9800GTX is flashed with 825/1200/2063 clocks for 24/7 use and it's 43 degrees celsius on full load!!!

I guess standard to me means the first HR-03 on the market, which was called just that, HR-03. Then came the Rev.A which the only difference is a mounting bracket with 2 extra holes for extra compatibility and directly replaces the "standard" HR-03.
The HR-03 Plus is for the G80 only.

There are a couple of HR-03 that only fit specific set of cards, off the top of my head HR-03 Plus fits G80 cards only and HR-03 R600 fits certain HD2900 cards only.

The HR-03 RevA and HR-03GT fit pretty much the same cards, except the GT has 2 extra heatpipes and extra heatsinks for the PWM/VRM

If anyone is wondering, the GT vs RevA is about 3-5C difference on full load on an 8800GT, obviously depends on fan used, I just used a 120mm fan on 5V ~600rpm.

I think it should be clear now for everybody:nuts:

I've got an R600 and a G92 version 6-pipe HR-03.. guess i'll have to compare the mounting hardware they came with ;)
