This is the tuner card I think I want: http://www.cyberestore.com/dvico-fusionhdtv7-dual-express-hdtv-analog-express-tuner-card-wremote-free-shipping-p-793.html

Not necissarily from that guy specifically though. Just put up that etailor for the product.

The question is: can I tust online retailers that are on the manufacturers "where to buy" page? Here: http://www.fusionhdtv.co.kr/ENG/WhereToBuy.aspx

Im only talking about the USA retailors as I live in Texas. Any thought on this card or those etailors.

May not be the best card - only coax input(?) and S-video(?) out. Even if you just plan to use it with your monitor, I would still get one with either DVI or HDMI out.

do I need/want DVI or HDMI out? I am basically looking for a "good" tuner card. So that when the wife starts watching Lifetime Television for Women I can head into the den and watch the game or some UFC. hehe.

I figure I might as well get a dual tuner card and so therefore having dual HD tuners would be ideal.

I just have regular cable so I will be using the coax from the wall.

That card is DVB-T, european standard, and not sure if it would be compatable with ATSC used here in north america.

So far I havent seen anything that "looks" better then the one I linked to and the extra $50 isnt a big deal. But I am still wondering if I can get what I want for much less.

Its not dual HD is it? I believe its single HD, single analog. And the HD tuner is only for over-the-air HD, Not cable HD. Not that it probably matters for my needs but since an extra $50-$60 isnt really any issue I might as well be sure I get what i want and be able to use it for the forseeable future. Also, it doesnt have PIP.

Im still trying to figure out what I really want, its not a matter of what i need. All I really need is a $30 tuner card. hehe. But, its about what I want, and trying to weed through all the advertisement BS/propaganda to get some real info is like pulling teeth. Im not even really sure the one I linked is what I want, but until I see something thats better or have a better understanding of the whole Dual HD TV Tuner situation Im leaning toward getting that one.

But from what i can gather, what i want is a Dual HD Tuner card tath has inputs for both HD digital cable and over the air HD so that i can switch between the two at will. I havent seen one that does it yet. If anyone knows of this device's existance you let me know!! I'll buy it and let you know how it works.

Is it true that I need Vista to be able to output HD through my video card???? This is also something I dont understand.

That Divco card is good stuff - I've gotten 5 or 6 cards from http://www.digitalconnection.com/ . Not sure if they carry that specific card - may want to check with them. ""Hybrid"" tuners receive both analog/digital - OTA/cable from a single coax input (need an A/B splitter for different cable/OTA inputs)

You will not get encrypted HD cable from any tuner card. You need an OEM 'cablecard' computer for that ...

No.

XP works well ... and Vista MCE is really buggy with QAM ...

I use this A/B switch ....

A/B switch! Great Idea. I will pick one up. BTW I just ordered that card!! I will let anyone who is interested how it goes with. Besides Im sure Ill have questions with the software part.

EDIT: I just thought of something. DOH! I only have the TV channels coming into one room (living room) didnt want to pay extra for more rooms. So I will have to figure out where the filter is. The main line goes to a 3-way splitter so I bet that filter to block the TV channels and allow the internet is built into that splitter. ill have to buy a regular 3-way splitter. I cant imagine anywhere else the line filter could be? Anyone?
