It's quick preview of the cheapest DDR3 available in Poland. It's value stuff, not prepared for overclocking maniacs  But what's the truth? ;)

As you see, it's plain value ram :) It's based on Qimonda ICs, the same as in cheaper Corsair, OCZ etc. sets. Nothing special. Memories are engineering samples but they are exactly the same as retail ones. Blue PCB is typical for reference Qimonda design.

It was the first DDR3 set in my hands located in my desk for few months :yepp: At last I reminded about it

Testing bench:

E8200 Q808A314
Asus Blitz Extreme (latest beta BIOS)
Sapphire HD 2900 PRO 256 bit
Maxtor 80GB SATA
BeQuiet 420W
Windows XP

What about behaviour? - this memory definately doesn't like CAS lower than 8/9/10. On lower values there are problems with booting correctly... Maximal potencial they got from loosing CAS up to 10. Of course it lowers bandwidth but it's only Qimonda, not Micron  But fortunately I am able to set better alphas with them. But in fact nothing special.

Some quick results

Max with CAS9. 1,9v from bios.

DDR3-1600 not so bad for the cheapest memory (CAS10), still 1,9v via bios

Something new in my tests :yepp: To crash bandwidth records definitely I need Micron ;)

Max stable. DDR3-1700 1.96v in bios  But more is impossible... I am able to push SuperPI about 20 MHz more...

Sum up,

Era of DDR3 is now open, despite the fact that I love DDR2 memory, DDR3 don't have to be in the shadow of more popular/old sisters. It's fun to overclock something NEW  This Qimonda chips have some overclocking potencial but manufacture (Qimonda) cease users from sending them to hell while overclocking. Qimonda equips ICs with voltage control modules which turn off supply of voltage to ICs while user set too high (in my case - 2v). Hope soon some more producers will offer DDR3 stuff like Samsung, Elpida, Qimonda and Micron.

nice little review :toast:
1800 cas 10 is quite dissapointing tho...

are you sure the chips contain logic that prevents more than 2v from going to the ic?
is that your guess or did quimonda or goodram tell you this?
