I received a retail kit of Corsair Dominator 4GB DDR2 PC9136 kit for torture the other day from their latest addition to high capacity DDR2 range.

Binned for both Nvidia and Intel chipsets. I prefer using Intel chipsets as they are a lot more efficient on DDR2 platform...........DDR3 platform is different however where 790i rules them all ;)

non-Micron ICs have shown a tendency to not scale well with voltage. I've seen this during my testing as well as bumpin the RAM to 2.13v only gave me a semi stable 600MHz even with relaxed tRFC (btw this timing will gain stability with high capacity RAM >> performance toll is insignificant as well ;))

Well time to bump vdimm some more (unfortunately vdimm jumps on this particular Gigabyte board are fairly big +0.05v which sometimes doesn't help with volt sensitive RAM >> new gen motherboards coming out VERY soon have this fixed with incredibly small volt jumps :up:)

i found the trick to high FSB on this CPU and board is to use the new F9a bios (older one was limited to 380MHz FSB :shocked:) and also to use GTL Ref +3% and second one on NORMAL for about 520MHz benchable FSB :)

i searched under 4GB Corsair PC9136 and CM2X2048-9136C5D & TWIN2X4096-9136C5DF on google and found they seem to sell in low US$300 range

you'll have to double that probably for australia cause we get ripped off on just about anything :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

actually i just dug up this RAM on staticice........there is only one retailer selling them locally

Altech stuff is usually pretty expensive unfortunately and most good manufacturers like to do business with them for some reason lol....including a couple of them that i know well >> corsair and gigabyte :shrug:

don't forget we are only a small nation of 20m ppl :(

Excellent dinos pretty much same as the 4GB Corsair PC2-9136 kit i tested 595mhz 5-5-5-15 max 32M and 610Mhz 5-5-5-15 max validation but on 2:3 266FSB strap divider instead of 5:6 333FSB divider using quad core vs dual core :)

What vdimm used for max validation at 610Mhz 5-5-5-15 ?

how about 1066 4-4-4?

no luck for mine, pretty similar max 4-4-4-12 clocks as the micron based 2x2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 which is around 445-450Mhz 4-4-4-12. Haven't tried 5-4-4 though.

i have to check whether GB will play happy but i usually get pretty decent RAM OCs on that divider....actually probably will be another 5MHz or more i'm sure

i like higher FSB and tight PL so went with that

i run a Celeron in my main PC :eek::D

i could run another one before the CPU starts to drop off (as in from full load)

Thanks for sharing those results Dino. That's not bad from a 2 x 2GB kit, but as per usual corsair, too expensive for what it is. GSkill PI 9600 kits are around $300 au or imported for similar price and can do 650 MHz stable, and 650+ MHz benchable.

I'm waiting for the 1300+ kits of DDR2 that are supposed to be released soon.
