Enhanced Image Quality without Increasing CPU Load

The ASUS Splendid HD processor utilizes the newest generation of Splendid video intelligence technology. This provides vibrant and fine-tuned images in conditions most favorable to the human eye, without any increase in CPU loading. Watching movies on PC monitors can now be as good as watching them on top-of-the-line consumer televisions, all thanks to the 7-region color enhancement, 12-bit gamma correction, real-time 2D peaking and dynamic contrast engine of this powerful chip. In addition, it automatically selects the best possible display modes for the most exceptional quality visuals – with inclusions of a Photo Mode, Video Mode, and Game Mode. Furthermore, it allows users to adjust image sharpness and optimization according to the display panel.

- Video & Graphics Engine: ASUS Splendid HD & ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3850
- Video Memory: 512MB DDR3
- Engine Clock: 668 MHz
- Memory Clock: 1.65GHz (828MHz DDR3)
- Memory Interface: 256-bit

Nice to see Asus doing more silicon related stuff. Hope they will be successful and can in the future rival intel nV and AMD in these segments!

Dual slot for some "eye candy fables"?
I don't think so!

Thats why we have good CPUs...

I don't see how this is meant to give better image quality / performance over a "normal" setup (gpu+cpu). Can someone explain?

It seems to be fit for most of part gaming HTPC machines.
Needs passive cooling.

Seems pretty useless...

Does it give any boost on 3d benches  ?

This card is basically this ( http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=181616&highlight=Splendid ) but with a built in video card. i guess its going to be good for HTPC or photoshop oriented computers where image quality is important.

What about the DVI-HDMI adapter that all ATI HD3xxx have? This is a normal 3850 with a stupid chip from Asus. It should have it.
