So iv had Vista Ultimate 32bit for like i dunno a year or something, and i really like it. Have a had few minor problems i couldnt fix and other stuff but one thing thats really anoyying me and there probly isnt a fix for it is the sound issues.

Basicly, when my harddrive is working really hard like say if i select 10GB of files and move them from one place to another the damn thing slows down so much my mouse jumps accross the screen if i move it. Dont remember see'ing this on XP.

Another issue is when i play Video games like say COD 4 and the game is loading up my sound is all scratchy sometimes and i know its due to HDD load. Same thing happens on games like EVE online basic things that cause my hdd to work my sound either stops working or becomes scratchy for a second and my computer stops responding for a second.

I know this is a vista issue cuss i have done google search's other people have the same exact problems when there hdd's are working sound and computer responsivness becomes comprimised.

Like right now im doing a defrag and just listening to Itunes, and everynow and then the sound almost cuts in an out.

Maybe its cuss my HDD isnt the fastest on the block i had to remove my raptor and just use my 160gb caviar for everything but i dunno how that could be it.

Anyone else have this problem and maybe have a solution to it ??

Dunno if thats a vista issue, but im pretty sure its your sound hardware/drivers causing it.

Are you using onboard? I noticed a similar thing happening in my office/LAN box (Vista Business 64) until I pulled the X-Fi out of my other machine and dropped it in.

I've heard creative drivers have a lot to do with the sound issues. Thought they would be fixed by now.

I think perhaps you might have misread - I had sound issues without the X-Fi (ie. using onboard), but when the X-Fi was plugged in, no issues at all.

Of course, Alchemy hard-locked my machine or refused to recognise that I had an X-Fi when I attempted to install it, but that's neither here nor there.

No im using an Audigy 2 ZS gamer edition.

I have the drivers updated to there latest, even tho creative dropped support with there audigy brand, because of Vista not supporting direct sound.

I know there card have issues with Vista, i was just wondering if anyone else had ths problem. I know others do on google same exact problem i just wish i knew how to fix it.

Its not just the sound its everything else else like the computer freezing for a split second occasionally. Basicly if i play wow for example and i just do anything, like doing my daily's sometimes my computer will freeze for a split second and the sounds makes a screech noise and then it works fine again.

Note the time it happens is like a split second nothing more but its noticable. Iv tried all kinds of graphics drivers old and new, and that didnt solve it. My video card isnt overclocked, all i know is other people have this issue with vista.

Do a HDD defrag and play a video game see if you get the same thing it gets really bad when i do that and its the only way i can mimic what happens to show people.

Maybe I'll do a HDD defrag on my pc and play wow and record what happens and post it so you guys can see what exactly happens.

Ok here it is, for some reason the video isnt present i dunno why, but if you listen you can hear me flying on my helicopter mount and the sound cuts in an out, this happens with the video also and the whole computer like my mouse and stuff, but itsonly when the HDD is working its wierd this doesnt happen on XP
