Hi
I purchased the Advanced 3dmark Vantage a couple of days ago and I think I am getting bad artifacting in the 3rd test (the 1st CPU test with the planes)

Does anyone else get "artifacts" in the CPU AI test?

I'm not even sure if they are artifacts, but I get weird random white squares on the water in the background.

No games exhibit any artifcating (Crysis and Bioshock and F.E.A.R) are all fine.

I've slowed my DDR3 RAM right down to 1066Mhz (from it's default of 1333Mhz) and have also slackened off the CAS timing etc but those white sqaures are still there.

System:

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650
4GB of Patriot 1600MHZ LL RAM (CL7)
ASUS P5E3 BIOS 1002
nVidia Geforce 8800GTS 512MB Forceware 175.12
Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with SP1
Creative X-Fi
Enermax 720W PSU (Infinit)

Is it a driver glitch or a problem with the benchmark or is some hardware component in my system failing?

Thanks
John

I haven't gotten any artifacting at all. It kind of sounds like your cards are overheating.

Ouch :(

I turned up the Fan (using RivaTuner) up to 75% and it's still the same! How do you take a screenshot?
I tried the "PrintScreen" trick but that takes a shot of the desktop.

I am not 100% sure if it is artifacting but it does look like it (small white squares which randomly move) on the water in the background of the CPU AI test (Test 3).

Have you got any other suggestions?
Shall I try unnder clocking the graphics card?

Use fraps (http://www.fraps.com/) to take a screenshot.
For the overheating try putting a fan on the GPU or close to it, that should work. Also underclock it by a few mhz.

Hi Dark
Thanks for the advice, I underclocked my 8800GTS 512MB (G92) all the way down to 500Mhz on the core and 500Mhz on the mem...the artifacts (or what I assume where artifacts) did not go away!
Here is a screen cap from FRAPS (I have drawn a circle round what I assume to be artifacting).

Does anyone else get this?
Thanks

there not artifacts, the null parts of the scene not completly filled in.artifacts look like white dots ALL over the screen.once in a great while staring at monutains in bf2 maps i see those white dots.your fine.

Well Vantage is known for artifacting by itself due to bugs so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the input Railmeat and Linchpin.
I have tried everything to get rid of those null pixels but I just can't shake them.
Have underclocked everything (RAM CPU Graphics card) and turned up the fans to maximum.
Basically those null pixels only flash on the "river" texture they move randomly very artifact like, yet as you rightly said Railmeat there appears to be "logic" to the madness as it is not going all over the screen (and this is the only scene which has this problem).
Linchpin what sort of problems do you get with 3dmark Vantage?
(aside from the having to view results online which I think is appalling).
