Hello all,
I am getting a BSOD when Vista 64Bit installs. It copies all the files to the hard drive then has to do the reboot. Upon this reboot it starts windows and has the progress bar start then BSOD. I have had XP 32 bit stable on here.. Any suggestions or ideas..
Thanks in advance.

These is a known issue installing Vista64 on systems that feature 4GB's or more. Some people have this issue, so people don't, it is very hit or miss. There is a write up on this on MS's website, just have to search for it. To get around it, just install Vista with 1 2GB stick, then add your second stick after the OS is installed.

Yep that was the issue.. 99% sure anyway as I am now finding out that the Dlink 132 usb NIC I was (going) to use does not offer 64 bit support. OH well time to get a newer NIC with Vista 64 bit drivers. Any suggestions????
Took 2GB's out and Vollia...
Until I get the updates from MS .. and all other stuff, I will wait to put in the other 2GB stick.
Thanks for all you help!!

Yup, my suggestion would be anything Intel or Broadcom, if I assume correctly that you're asking about a GBit NIC. If you have the choice try to avoid RealTek, they tend to have higher CPU loads combined with lower transfer rates in comparison with said companies cards..

64bit drivers won't be a problem with them too.

No need to wait on the updates, here is the hotfix for 4GB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777

I installed V64 on the abit in my sig with 2x2gb gskill 8000, and it went fine.... I expected to have issues and have to install with one stick, but didn't have to. 6 months ago...

Yup, I've had the same trouble. I installed Vista with 2GB, then applied the 4GB patch and popped in the rest. Works just fine.

It must be very hit and miss - i didn't have any issues with 4GB (4x 1GB sticks) before or after sp1. (below sig)
I was going to suggest it's a nforce issue, but clearly not.
Very strange
