Ok, set the MSI 875 Neo up after getting it back like this
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18546
and discover that dual channel will not work, both Dimm's 1 & 2 work together and 3 & 4 work fine, but I can't get Dual channel to work in any combination.

What would you do ? Send it back again and wait another 4 weeks, spend another $20 and cross my fingers that the next board will be OK ? Or just use it like it is in single channel for my son's PC ?

This really disturbs me ! :(

Well it may not be the nicest thing to do, but I would pass the buck back to MSI, buy one locally, Fry's comes to mind, then return it as defective for a refund.

Every day I begin to feel more & more like MSI is run by a bunch of educated monkeys

Wouldn't surprise me, I can't even go to there forums and complain about my Neo 2's crappy bios! Why should we expect working motherboards from a company that can't even keep there own forum running :wierd:

I almost traded for a neo 875 & I actually emailed them asking if they had any BIOS that would let you manually control memory timings. They sent me back some new BIOS which did not allow you to control mem timings....

I'm still optimistic they may get a decent bios out for the board, I've just got the 865 Neo 2 Ls, other then the poorly setup bios I like the board, it has potential. Quite odd though the attached screenshot showed 295 set in bios....

All and all it is a pretty good board, but the bios is just crap. If they can fix the issues, I think it would be ok. It is nice and stable for me.

Back on topic - I would make MSI pay the shipping for sending you a basically DOA board. Request another RMA with prepaid shipping.

I had the same thing with MSI a few years ago when the original Athlon was introduced. First board was dead in 40 days, the next 1 I received 2 month's later was DOA, 2 month's later another DOA. So for 7 months of ownership I used the board for 40 days. Not that all MSI products are bad, but from my experience with them, I won't buy another MSI product......ever.

I'm just going to keep the board like it is, I found a soldier short last night around the voltage regulators for the Vdimm and thought I had found the problem. But after removing the short it still will not work in Dual channel.

I sent MSI a letter requesting a new board be sent to me without prior return of the defective RMA board I received. I sent it to every email address that I could find on the MSI web site, and I will call on Monday and see if I can talk with a customer service rep. I'm using it like it is right now, and will just put it in my son's pc I guess.

Part of my problem (delays) could have been my location (Canada)

But by the last board they had run out of them, and sent a newer mobo. The board I had bought had an AMD chipset which I wanted, the final board was a VIA. I just sold it before installing it, since I had to buy a replacement for it 6 months earlier antways
