Fiscal Year?

In relation to the tech industry, ie Intel, AMD, nVidia, etc

For example, the U.S. government's fiscal year is

Q1: Oct. 1 - Dec. 31
Q2: Jan. 1 - Mar. 31
Q3: Apr. 1 - Jun. 30
Q4: Jul. 1 - Sep. 30

This does not seem to match up with product release dates for the tech industry, however. Thanks in advance for the clarification.

Fiscal years are all different.
Usually companys will have their fiscal year start when they started the company.

Edit: n00b! lolYeah, the can pick any day to end the fiscal but a lot opt for dec. 31 for convenience.

Fedex's fiscal year ends May31. Thats good news because I get more vacation. Yay!!!!
