every now & then I want/need to look for exotic hardware in the USA.. whats a good way to search for availability (& price) @ USA stores?

http://www.google.com/products will give you price. Don't know of anything that polls all the warehouses though, doubt there's anything like that out.

I find that pricegrabber works as well. Its especially useful when buying hard drives, because it lists price/capacity. Also, some people will ship their items in the classifieds to AUS, assuming you have good heat.
