After the fiasco @ the CL forums regarding Daniel_K's modded drivers, rumors are that CL is preparing the X-Fi 2 for (a real soon?) launch.

The only indications for the X-Fi 2 is that Daniel_K was offered an X-Fi 2 (according to his own words) to settle the case and that CL has got the certificates for the X-Fi 2 for XP / Vista.

Is there any other info about the X-Fi 2? Like it being released in the PCI or PCI-e (which i hope) format?

Discuss here what you think/expect of the CL X-Fi 2.

I read on a comments page that the new Xfi 2 will have an inferior sound chip and be fully DRM enabled. Now because this was an OT comment from an un-informed user in an article about vista SP1 and because I read it on the Internet it must be true.

Did you happen to miss the last part of his post, the part that was dripping in sarcasm?

The new X-Fi will be the same card with worst drivers and upgrade to 128MB of onboard SDRAM and overclocked SPU that will make more crackles and pops when using it. Its true cause I made it up!

TY togaman5000, I guess Keitosha missed it

Keitosha : It was just an unsubstantiated account of the card that I read, though If I was considering buying the card, I would remember the comment when checking out the specs. I am happy with my Audigy 2 Plat-Ex for now.

As for the A2 Plat Ex, i agree with you. The Audigy's are still awesome cards. I also have an Audigy 1 (the one with the 1394 port) in my rig next to my Prelude. Why? Why not? :) I love to test different sc's. And thanks to Dan_K, the Audigy seems to be more complete than that joke of an official driver.

I'm also wondering what CL will do next with EAX. Will they let it die and continue with OpenAL (HD1/2.0?) or simply renaming a new OpenAL version to EAX HD6.0? (go figure)

First of all some folks get bad info and use it as fact. Audigy 1 doesn't sound like the Audigy 2 or 2 ZS LOL! X-Fi easily sounds better than both. Folks who did try them side by side will tell you that.

Audigy 1 sounded so bad, I gave my old one away. In fact I gave it away and kept my old Game Theater MUSE instead:rolleyes: I have a Prelude 7.1 and like it a lot! But I still like my Xtreme Music as well. My Audigy 2ZS is on the shelf waiting for my next Project. Come on Auzen add the Frakkin Creative THX back to the software:mad:

Asus SupremeFX II Card
Really, it's just a codec on a card.

Xtreme Audio that comes with the motherboard. Software version. Software based cards are easier on the system and require fewer drivers than Hardware cards.
