To prepare my GF4 for my cold plates, I slapped on some liquid electric tape. The same stuff that UaZa put on the back of his Epox 8k3a+. It owns!
What I did for this was... I covered everything (including the GPU and ram on the front) with the l.e.t. and I then cut em out w/ a razor. Tada! Gotta do the back still :P

Also I forgot to mention, I will be doing a few more coats, and after I volt mod, I'm goign to cover all that up too. I probably WON'T do the capacitors though as it would be a :banana::banana::banana::banana: to get all this stuff off, if I were to fry it. :P It does peal off quite nicely though on other spots.

dude post the exact name on the box so we can all buy some!
Nick, they're at the Home Depot local to us in the electrical aisle hanging off the side of the shelf in a small display.
It's Starbrite brand I believe. Stuff is great, haven't supercooled a vid card so I didn't insulate my whole card but I find that coating the back of the video card (towards the CPU) is great insurance in case your waterblock or condensation ever decides to put a few drops of water on your video card.

Well umm, the exact name on it says "Liquid Electrical Tape" I don't see a brand. But it's a tin can, w/ a yellow label, and black text.

Exactly, gives you a pretty good buzz too if you inhale too much of it. :)
If you use it on your motherboard though, it's an absolute PITA to get out from underneath the capacitors. Might make the RMA guys bat an extra eye or two at your board.

Starbrite makes stuff primairily for boats.
You will probably find it in Marine/Boat supply stores.
Or maybe Online (http://www.boatus-store.com/browse/item.asp?CFSR=1&IID=17121)

That looks very cool. Much easier than the whole neoprene thing. I'll pick up some of that when I take my system apart to rebuild my TEC rig :D.

You can get it at Home Depot in the plumbing/mechanical section it is called AP/ARMAFLEX (http://www.armacell.com/www/armacell/armacell.nsf/ansHTMLSeitenLookUp/US_Frame?OpenDocument&Target=_top).

I am pretty sure that it is the same stuff, his roll has a yellow trim on the inside just like the stuff I have (I bought some about 5 days ago for insulating my AT7 and Gainward 4600.
13165 3D MARK 2001SE (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=3929871)
ABIT AT7 MOBO
UNLOCKED XP 2200 2109MHZ
8 MAXTOR 20 GIG HD'S IN STRIPING 0 WITH NEW HIGHPOINT CONTROLER
GAINWARD 4600 GOLDENSAMPLE WATERCOOLED 335/775
CORSAIR 3200 512 XMS RAM
NEW GOTT REFRIGERATED WATERCOOLER COOLANT TEMP 15 DEGREES F.
PONDMASTER 500 GPH WATERPUMP
Just v-modded board and now it is time to do the old Konformal coating on the mohterboard and the volt mod on the gainward and then maybe I'll be able to keep up with those damn pentiums.

UaZa, do you know that that cooler is actually warming up your card with the surrouning air?
nohto, i see you have the Pondmaster pump;
is it magnetically sheilded?

I don't think so, but mine isn't in the tower. It is about 3 feet away on the floor attached to the Gott cooler with the refrigeration coils in it.
It doesn't say so I would have to say no.
dmitriyaz
07-19-2002, 01:07 PM
yeah....
by the name of the pump, i'd say its for outside use,
and they usually only shield them for inside use, such as aquarium, etc.
Nohto
07-19-2002, 01:17 PM
It is definately for outside use it has a 15 ft power cord, but you can't beat. It has no seals to wear and contains no oil. Pump can be used submerged or inline, all electrical componets are encapsulated in epoxy with no seals to wear or break. The energy used is approx. 1/2 of regular driven pumps. It has a one year warranty and was about $60.00 for a 500GPH.
dmitriyaz
07-19-2002, 01:35 PM
yeah...i still couldn't risk corrupting my HDD
or distorting colors on my monitor though...
i am looking for a pump that is used in large aquariums,
500 gph or so, inline, but sheilded...

Boy you just want everything!!!!!!!!!!!
Try and find out who the manufacturer is and search online, I'm sure you can get a better price. Like the Dow conformal coating kit I got 2 quarts of it for $50.00 when they wanted $32 for 2 syringes of it.
