The title kinda says it all. Saw a MacBook on sale on my local craigslist, later tonight I'm going to check it out and buy it if I can. What are things to look for besides cosmetic conditions? I know there's an option to view the laptop in the drop down menu by selecting "More About this Laptop" but is there more I should be looking for? Like if the laptop is functioning properly without any problems? thanks.

Well, I don't see any reason why you cannot do a full board/proc/mem test using UBCD.
Can someone say if this is possible or not?

Well I'll be having a look at the MacBook this Friday. Anyone know if beside looking for the option of "about this mac" can you run cpu-z and gpu-z?
xytrius-what is UBCD? can you give me a link to look/download?

about this mac can be modafied to say whatever you want.
go to about this mac, and then click on more info.
System profiler will open up, and that information cannot be modafied. It will show you the hardware installed on the computer. Also, you can see the stock configuration of the computer by looking at the serial tag wich i believe is located under the battery. You can remove the battery and it will be a long grey sticker with a barcode or two on it, it will say 1.83ghz core 2 duo , 1gb.. etc... or whatever the stock configuration was. That will show you what it should be, and you can determine from there if it has any memory added, a different hdd, or anything like that. You can get the serial and check the warranty status online, but its only 1 year normally, so its likely expired.
And if you really wanted to get into it, the os x disc that came with the macbook has apple hardware test on it. It will tell you on the disc how to use it.

UBCD is the Ultimate Boot CD.
A very common tool amongst Computer technicians.

UBCD is a collection of common software tools used to diagnose hardware via a CD/flash drive.

Since the MacBook has intel chipsets, I think that UBCD can be booted and used to perform hardware diagnostics.
