Hey all,
I recently got a 3870 512MB and I love it. I slapped it under water and am running it currently at 877/1225 unmodded. I figured I would be able to put my graphical settings in COD4 a couple notches higher than my 1900xtx. I guess I was expecting more than I bargained for, here are my current settings:
Video Mode:1280x1024
AA: 2x
SyncEveryFrame: No
Shadows: Yes
Specular map: Yes
Depth of Field: No
Glow: No
Number of Dynamic Lights: Normal
Soften Smoke Edges: No
Ragdoll: Yes
Bullet Impacts: Yes
Model Detail: Normal
Water Detail: Normal
Number of Corpses; Large
TEXTURES:
Texture Filtering: Automatic
Anisotropic filtering: ~6x
Texture Quality: Manual
Texture Resolution: Extra
Normal Map Resolution: Extra
Specular Map Resolution: Extra
I wouldn't expect this to stress my system all that much during multiplayer but I experience some crazy stuttering and FPS drops. I lowered my resolution settings a bit and that seemed to help the most. I read up that setting the textures to extra requires a lot of video memory, I would assume 512MB would be enough though, maybe the 256-bit bus is bottlenecking?
Feel free to post your settings and specs as a comparison
