Alright so I got my Q6600 today and I have it running at 3.2ghz right now with a BIOS vcore of 1.375. I can probably go lower but I don't feel like fiddling with it. Anyway, all I want out of this chip is 3.6 but so far it doesn't look like it will be able to do 400x9, I got up to 1.4625 BIOS vcore and then I quit.
By the way, I am using a GA-P35-DS3L and these are my settings:
RAM: Stock - 400mhz 4-4-4-12
VMCH: +.1V
VFSB: +.1V
VPCIE: +.1
I just need any tips that would help me do 400 x 9. Right now I am at 400 x 8, just as a safe OC.
Thanks in advance!
Hmm...
I had a GA-P35-DS3R a few months ago. I was using vFSB +.3, vMCH +.3, and +.2 for vDIMM. That is what I got for 3.9GHz on a stock heatsink. But the chip was QX6800 ES.
So, try to bump vFSB and vMCH to +.2 or +.3.

I will try that out now, thanks Ash!

You probably going to have to up the vcore also, I have 3 Q6600 that require 1.5 setting in the bios on P35 DS4s that will only do 3.5-3.6Ghz while my other lower VIDs will do more...

This CPU is beating me... I really need to remount my Infinity because I do not think I applied enough ICD7. My highest core temp was 66, but what scares me is that I am getting a 6-8C difference between my lowest core temp and my highest core temp. I went as far as setting 1.525 Vcore which showed up as 1.42V under load.... talk about vdroop. Right now I am back at 8x400.

Use the line method.

That temp difference is normal for quads. Lapping helps abit though... The differences should be tighter under load

YEAAAAHHHH BOYYYYYYYY!!!!!! (In a flava-flav voice.)
My hottest core is at 65C while running WCG. That is under Intel's thermal spec of 71C.

April 13? Where are you?
Oh god haha, I just realized my computer time is way off. I am in Tampa. That is weird, I don't know why it says April 13.
