A question for all the DFI aficionados-
In the DFI threads, it seems as though some of the most impressive ddr2 memory modules were the crucial ballistix pc8500 (older version).
My understanding from the forums is that the new single sided memory bank revision of this memory doesn't hold a candle to the older version in performance.
If that is indeed accurate, has anyone found a comparable alternative as far as overclocking ability?

That's indeed the truth, see it like oil man, resources run out once and Ballistix might be the best clocker they also die too...
I know it's nice to have 1200mhz on the ram but is this noticeable in day to day operations ? I hardly think so... Secondly with the current prices of 4gig PC8000/8500 kits I don't find it worthwhile anymore to buy only 2 gigs as a future upgrade... two dimms more (so 4 in total) will put even more strain on the mobo's memory controller ... sadly 2gb dimms are not that great clockers and are best used at or around stock level...
And I love my Gskill PC8000 kits they run absolutely fab on the P5K Dlx, Maximus and MARS mobo...
D9GMH works extremely well on the DFI, the higher binned D9GKX on the other hand doesnt play well, if u want garantee D9GMH, i think Team Group/ Mushkin/ Cell shocks use these chips still, and there allot more brands do.

Team group uses d9gmh for their Xtreem Series upto DDR2-1066. They use the D9GKX for their DDR2-1200 and DDR2-1300 kits.
Their dark series uses elpida chips the older revisions (blue heatspreaders) uses promos.
