hi,
i have as3 on my p4 and now i want to wipe it off and put some new stuff on because i remember when i put the as3 on i put too much and i want to correct my mistake.
so how do i do it?
will the as3 still be soft on the cpu or will i have to use some sort of liquid to get rid of it?
also what about that little hole in the p4? do i have to unblock that if it is filled with as3 or do i just leave it?

please help

thanks

cleaning it off is easy, use some toilet paper, and remember to clean the edges too.
for the little hole, I use a bobby pin.
other then that, I can't get the pin hole on the IHS very clean, I just hope it helps so I try to clean it.

use rubbing alcohol or finger nail polish remover will work also. and i wouldnt use that kind of paper, try to use the most lint free thing you have, a silk shirt if you have one, lint= higher temps and when your reaplying, dont put your finers on it!

I just use a kitchen towel to rape it off.. then i use alcohal on the ihs and the heatsink to clean it off aferer. Then i spread on my thermalc on the ihs with a thin platic bag piece. Just don't use a towel that sheds hairs on it

i usually just use a paper towel since they don't seem to leave as many "left overs" on the piece im trying to clean. I just rub it once with the dry paper towel, then find a spot that's clean on the paper towel and put some alcohol on it and the rest comes right off.

Paper coffee filters work well with rubbing alcohol. As long as you don"t shred it while cleaning the IHS, then it does not leave debris behind.

Also I would suggest using 90+% alcohol. There are some that are only 70%. It will say on the bottle

you wont see a diffance between the two if you cant find it easy in your area, 70 does the job just fine.

It's what you use to clean holes on your body in the bathroom

If it weren't for that vent hole on the IHS -

water, soap and an old toothbrush. Hot water to heat up the CPU and a careful blot-dry with a cotton towel and air. Gets every last bit of AS off the AMD cpu, they look like new when done. Guess I'd be worried about water getting in that 'lil hole though.

I use gun scrubber solvent/degreaser by birchwood casey for cleaning cpus. It works fast.
