I'm not sure what's going on. I put my new computer together tonight and started it up and prepared to install Vista Ultimate (64-bit) on it. First problem I had was I got a message saying BootMGR is missing. I managed to solve that by disconnecting my other two sata drives and now when I try to install windows I'm still unable to boot to the vista installation disk. I'm trying to install windows on a Hitachi Deskstar 500 gb hard drive.

you got the boot order set correctly in the bios so first DVD rom then HD,...? did you verify the ram with eg memtest... are you running an OC ?

Yes, I have boot order set correctly. Rom followed by HD. No OC, I'm trying to install Vista Ultimate 64-bit for the first time on this computer. Don't know how to run eg memtest, never done it.

Well, If at least been able to get the windows disk to start. But now after I get to the part where the installation starts copying windows files I get an error message which says something to the effect that windows cannot reinitialize the deployment engine. This is where I stop dead. Anybody got any ideas? I'm getting a little desperate here.

I'm being suspicious about those "Auto" settings.
I gotta get some rest now... I'm gonna post some settings to try later on.

Have tried it, get the same result with either two or four gig installed.
