Are they safe to be used in a watercooling loop? Will it cause corrosion?

and how about copper tarnishing?

yes. they are safe. However, if you have a piece of silver, (could be small)drop it in your res and it would serve as a great biocide.

Thanks!

How much is enough for my watercooling loop? It has around 700ml+ of water.

Silver or algaecide?

A few drops of algaecide should be fine.

A little bit of anti freeze should work just fine.

Algaecide.

I just bought a bottle of algaecide, but it's dark brown. I always thought it's colorless. Shouldn't be a problem right?

It should be fine, its most likely a form of iodine.

I've been using fish aquarium algaecide that I bought from Walmart for a couple of years and it works great. It only takes a drop or two to do its job.

I mixed more than a few drops cause aquarium algecide has a small % of copper sulfate and citic acid, it's very diluted as it's intended not to risk life, the guy recommended me half cap that will be like 10 drops...I checked like 4 and all the same...some don't have citric acid that's the only thing i found..Mine's blue as copper sulfate is...

Cheers

I just discovered that the anti-algae cleans copper tarnish easily, guess it isn't a good idea to use this in my loop after all? I put a drop onto my FuZion's base, cleans the copper tarnish like champ =\

Any thoughts?

That's the citric acid. Same reason ketchup works well for removing tarnish (that and salt).

Realize that you are talking about a drop directly onto the copper vs like 2 drops to about a litre of fluid or however much your loop holds.

Not too small or it might get sucked into the pump. :D

lmao.

1. you don't need any additives unless you use lights. copper itself is a microbe and you should make flushing a habit every 3-4 months.

2. if you use an algaecide AVOID acids. wtf are you guys thinkn putting acid in your loop. even tho its a small dose. the flux and sodder in your rads will not be happy.

3. if you use an algaecide few drops only. were not cooling with massive amounts of water. this aint a 15 galon fish tank.

4. personally I say f the algaecide. if you need something 2-4 drops of iodine FTW!

5. I personally use silver. a small nuget can be bought for like 15 dollars and never runs out.
