Basically I need a soundcard to play into a very nice stereo Hi-Fi system (Kef Reference 103/4s and Arcam Alpha 8). But which also has 5.1 capabilities as I have some basic surround speakers which I use for gaming.
I'm looking at a budget of between £100-£150. I quite like the look of the Auzentech X-Meridian however other suggestions would be very much welcomed.
Can I upgrade the OPAMPS of just the front stereo channels? As any improvements to the other channels will be cancelled out by the crapness of the surround speakers (they arn't used seriously enough to warrant spending loads on and mostly just play music in stereo). Anyone know where I can get the OPAMPS from in the UK and the best ones to get?
Secondly what are their 64 bit drivers like? Its not a major issue but my next upgrade was definately going to include going 64 bit.
Else I could get an external DAC. However I've not much experience with these so suggestions please?
