Hello All,

I am working on my MM case (see sig link below) and I am extending the fan cables to do some better cable management. My longest extension at the moment is about 4 feet of 22 gauge copper wire.

Do you see any problem with this besides the small increase of resistance.

All of my connections are being soldered to help with current flow.

Thanks,

-Jason

No problem at all that I can see. Fans draw so little power that resistance in the wire won't matter.

I think there are no problems since the fans don't draw much power. But if it's a Tornado or similar, that draws 1 amp, you should put a better wire. I don't know whats the maximus amps on the one you're using, but it's easy to know, it should be written on the wire

You could make them 100' and it wouldnt affect the operation, unless theyre some crazy fans.

They're too long when you can't fit the extra wire into your case any more :P If you're just using normal fans, then you'll be just fine. If you're using something crazy like 5k RPM Deltas, you might want to look at something a shade beefier, such as speaker/amp wire.

As for the added resistance, it's a fan, not some really sensitive electronics device. With a really long cable, it might spin a few RPM slower, but that's not really going to matter :P
