I would like to get together with fellow hardware nuts for some benching, good times and possibly chasing some records. I live basically on the state line of Indiana and Ohio on I-70. Richmond In to be more precise.
I have at my disposal a 23,000 sq.ft. place to bench.( Machine shop, engineering company.) I also have access to LN2 and Dry ice as well as a single stage phase unit. and obviously some decent hardware. as well as the ability to make pots, brackets etc. as needed. bring your own material and bench with a brand new cnc made tube:up: should be the perfect place to host it given the large spaces and ample electric, tables etc.
also close to restaraunts, lowes hardware, hotels etc. most hotels in town run 30-50 a night. a few could even stay with me for no charge. here is a google map of the location.
http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=5624+New+Paris+Pike,+Richmond,+IN+47374,+USA&um=1&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=title

Oh man, only 250 miles from Chicago. Maybe me and Hicks 121 can make it down.
Especially if it's more than just a one time thing though I figure you'll be playing that by ear...
You should add Illinois and Kentucky to the thread title...

I believe that is close to an 8 hour drive fer me!
(Waterford, MI)
It'd be nice to carpool fer gas money.
I'd love to go. What're we looking at for room& board?
I'm not driving 8+ hours one way, to drive another 8+ a couple hours later!

Great, looks like there is more interest in this than I thought!
We have lots of hotels here in Richmond, the el-cheapo ones cost 30-45 dollars a night. the fancier ones like Hampton Inn run 70-100+. If several people are needing lodging I can stop by a few and see about discount rates.
food and such are typical pricing, we have literally hundreds of places to eat.
depending how many people show up at any given time I can put one or two up at my place.
I am willing to do this whenever others want to. If somebody wants to come down today that would be fine, or we can all set-up a date to meet up, makes no difference to me.
Waterford MI is only about a 4hr drive from here (I used to go to Port Huron every day when I drove a truck).
we can always bring grills and cook out while we bench, that saves a little money.
I am just giving basic ideas here, whatever you guys want to do is fine with me. I don't have any preferences as to when we meet-up heck we could do it any time with any number of people.

If you guys can bench in that machine shop can you ask the boss if you can setup sleeping bags in a corner at night? I don't know if the place runs CNC builds late into the night but that's nothing some ear plugs can't fix. Would be sweet as you could save a pretty penny and just wake up to start benching again :p: Shower via industrial sized hose

Actually there is a shower and kitchen at the shop, :) . an all night bench would probably happen anyway. Lots of different combo's to try and all. I was thinking a little while ago that my buddy might let us use his fifth wheel camper (sleeps eight I believe). As for sleeping bags I can clear out a room at my place and free up floor space. I live about 10 miles from the shop.
We generally don't have any runs going all night. Most of what we run are small prototype runs, no large piece runs. (4-500pcs max). the majority of our jobs are 10-30 parts. It is a small family owned shop, I am treated as one of the family (low pay, worked like a dog etc....lol).
My boss is great, he will probably drop by and check out all the madness himself.
The shop is quite unique, we do anything for a buck basically, from repairing farm equipment and painting church busses to making robotic production machinery. most of our customers use us as an extension of their own maintenence dept. we make parts or fix equipment to keep them producing, make sample parts for other places to mass produce.

That would be great. I don't mind camping out in sleeping bags.
Especially if it saves me $40 (that's almost a whole new videogame).
Anyone in michigan that wants to go?
I don't mind carpooling ( I can fit 4 people comfortably + equipment [07 Saturn Ion]).
I would like to go sometime in the summer.

when uncle george gives us our bonus check this year we will all have a little extra cash, we could do our part to help the economy by spending it benching and such.

If this is summertime, I'll be in Cleveland, but, I'll be working too with the engineering company so should have some funds, no hardware, unless you want an 3600 x2 ;)
However, the only way I'm coming is if Ryder, and Warboy bring all the beer they can fit from Bells and bring it for me to drink, and maybe hit Founder's on the way too :D

I am very close to the owner and family and would not betray their trust. there are lots of local watering holes and decent restaraunts also. and If you find a little cutie you may not need to pay for a hotel room either , just "bunk" with her for the night,

awesome to see so many people interested in joining up for some fun and good benching.
So far it looks like we have got lots of good people in the group. I am thinking we need to find a date to meet up on now so you guys can see if your schedule is open.
As for a special guest..... I know you all want to see kingpin join us and I pm'ed him and asked him if he was interested. He said he is very busy as you can imagine, he did ask when we were doing this, since we don't have a firm date yet it is hard to know if he would be able to or even interested in attending.
with virtually everyone living north of me it may be better for us to schedule a meeting in southern Michigan somewhere. I plan on several of these meetings if people can make it.
I would also like to see what equipment people would be able to bring... looks like we need lots of cpu and gpu pots:D so please list any relevant items you can bring.. and even if you can't bring any hardware you are more than welcome to join us.
so guys please list when you think a good date is and what harddware you may be able to bring. thanks for reading.

As for hardware I can bring, P5B-d does 550fsb on air, E6300 does 550fsb, Max Formula, only tested to 475fsb, but sure it will go higher(will test with e6300 for max fsb). Also can bring my 750watt psu for benchn(if that will be enough..lol). Also can bring my x3210, but limited to an 8 multi. Would rather leave that at home to crunch though.
This is going to be a great time, I personally cant wait :yepp:

I would prefer July, although I may be out in Vegas in July sometime depending. However, as you'll see i really have no hardware and havent OC'ed anything seriously since back when A64's first came out.
As for hardware, well @ Current I can bring 2 7900GS's  if we are trying for some old school HW....
If its in July, I may have a Q9450 by then... and probably a different PSU....

awesome to see so many people interested in joining up for some fun and good benching.
Well, Figure out a place, There might be a place i can talk to the owner and see if he can let us bench here. but I think that might be a little out of the way. Besides, I don't think we want a 1.5million volt Tesla coil near us either.

Southern Michigan is closer to me than southern Indiana. I may be able to go but I'm hopefully () joining the work force full time with an internship/co-op, so I don't know what my schedule will look like. I'm planning on getting an E8400 or 8500 and some DFI offering, be if P45 or X48. I'll also bring along some D9GMH Ballistix DDR2-800 that do 1107MHz 5-4-4-12 @ 2.35v.
That is, pending if I actually can make it.

depending where it is, If Southern Indiana, Akron, isnt too far out of the way, since i could jump down to Akron, jump on 76 take that to 71 and 71 south to 70 and across the state, or if its in Michigan, and you can make it north to the Cleveland Area, we could carpool...
Cheers :toast:

The Owner doesn't let anyone fire it up besides him. But anyone can fire thumper, You can just think of what it does ;) (uses a huge amount of amps to disintegrate anything and makes a thumping noise lol)

By all means, Jim and I already talked a bit about trying to set WRs with older PCI-e video cards. And I don't really have anything particularly 'special' so that's a good way to contribute to the party, though bringing something not necessary as he's said.
And, again, a pair of 9600GTs would be cool to compete against Gomeler and his crew...
As for as timing, whenever works for me

I can make it anytime after June 6 or 8. I don't have a bunch of modern hardware but some including P5K vanilla, lots of D9 DDR2, 2 DI/LN2 pots, a UEI DT200, and enough deltas to make a case float. I'll also probably have a few Conroe-L celerons and an 8300 by then too.

We need a variety of hardware, being the latest cutting edge is not really important , to me at least. some of the most fun I've ever had was with the old hardware:up:
definitely need as many pots as possible
We also will need temp sensors, fans, power supplies, basically all the support type stuff. coolers for dry ice, acetone ($13 dollars a gallon local :shakes: )our local Meijer has Dry Ice and I have heard Kroger does also.
My stuff:
QX9650 a decent clocker
a select few kits of ballistix
DFI LP X-38 board, When the X-48 T3R launches I will have it.
two 3870x2's Second is getting ordered tonight:up:
Sapphire 2400 pro 256mb bone stock (just got it @ 5pm give me a chance)
2 danger den water blocks
Laing D-5 pump , tubing etc,
boxes of fans, radiators (3)clamps etc.
my phase unit of course :)
I also have ongoing access to re-use some of my old hardware I have sold to friends and family. including:
Radeon X1900XTX
Radeon HD 2900XT
Radeon x700pro 256mb
an e6650 and an e6600
I can make some cheap benching pots out of aluminum but copper is very expensive right now, I need to know who wants to use pots on their cards so I can get the mounts made for them.

Akron is just where I'm going to school. We'll have to see. When I tell my mom I'm going to play with dry ice and liquid nitrogen with my computer parts, she will probably crap herself and tell me to get a real job before I break it.

Really don't know. I might be getting 8800GT's for fun. Most of the guys here don't have vid cards they can burn through. I wish the 9600GT reference card didn't have such low OVP, it's really a bust.

It doesn't have to be a 1 time event if you can make it down then I will be here. We could do this with a few people here or there or as several big get-togethers. makes no difference to me.
I can also drive to someones place, I just selected the shop as I had no idea of where the people who would respond would live. there are probably 10 within an hour of me but so far only theclash  has responded.
