Hi, I've noticed a strange problem with one of my PCs

It was an E2180 running at 3ghz, running stable 24/7, but today I've noticed it is now running at 2Ghz, rebooted, checked the BIOS - it was set to 300 Mhz FSB

I reset the bios, cleared the cmos, but nothing seems to work, no matter what FSB i set in the bios it's always running at 200 Mhz

I rolled back to some older bios, same thing...

Any ideas?

Make sure you disable EIST, C1E, and Intel Speed Step. Also if your motherboard goes throw a series of restarts and then you hear the post beep that means that there was something wrong with the OC settings and it has set it back to default.

I have disabled them, settings are OK, the machine has been working with that settings for a long time with no problem, it must be another problem.

There is nothing wrong with the OC settings, the FSB simply is stuck at 200 Mhz

I cannot move it even 1 Mhz up, whatever FSB I set, the result is 200.

I can lower the multiplier and CPU clock goes down, it's only FSB thats stuck, tried moving the ram, tried different ram, different settings, stock settings, nothing sees to work, the damn FSB is alway 200 Mhz, like it's locked or something...

I don't know if you have tried this yet but make sure you check your memory's timings. Press ctrl+F1 at the main BIOS screen to unlock these options.

It has nothing to do with timings, I tried different settings and nothing happened...

It's the same problem that dude is having here:

crappy gigabyte mobos, crappy intel chipsets :(
seems like hardware will stay buggy forever, having buggy software is not enogh :/

try powering off the machine and give it a few minutes.
i had a similiar problem with oc not staying but a simple power down and it was fixed
