Nowadays we are used to having hundreds of gigabytes of storage capacity in our computers. Even tiny MP3 players and other hand held devices usually have several gigabytes of storage. This was pure science fiction only a few decades ago. For example, the first hard disk drive to have gigabyte capacity was as big as a refrigerator, and that was in 1980.

I've got a 5.25" hard drive that holds 25mb. Seagate ST-225. Still works

I've got a punch tape I programmed for a CNC mill, and a laser disk player, and a Tandy cassette for a color computer(have the computer too)

My code teacher way back, told us that the first time they were introduced to the chance of addressing 512 kb ram...they yelled...what the hell should we do with that.

Heh, like Bill Gates comment (which he now denies though akaik he did make) that "no one should need more than 64KB RAM"
