I was looking for 32" Full HD 1080p TV ,but not available in my place , only 1360X768 res available , but the sony 40" 1080p drew my attention

In fact the main reason why i want to buy sony TV because my monitor DELL 24" its realy hurting my eyes after gaming a while

So. with 40" screen i can stay 3 - 5 M away from the TV and gaming for along time without hurting my eyes

the Question is :

I already ordered XFX 9800GX2 . IS it enough for 1920X1080 res in the 40" size screen ?

Yes, The 40" 1080P sony is the best looking 40" lcd i saw under 10k. I use it as my primary monitor on my rig, and it is amazing. But 1080P can be a big high to game at for crysis. I only have a 8800GTS now, and was looking into getting a 9800GX2 as well. It should be good enough. It sure can do any other game out, but crysis... yea....

Well 40" 1080p with 9800GX2 can be great, and for the tv you can have a look at the Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000, it got good reviews in amazon (http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B000SB9K5W/ref=_dp_top?%5Fencoding=UTF8&showViewpoints=1). And I have got to know that there is a Up to $400 off tv sale in sony, you can go and have a look there, I got the news from a coupon (http://www.dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=22724&ru=282).

Watch out if you're going to use the vga port on a Sony. I have a 50" SXRD projection tv and tried to connect the vga port to the second port on my video card. It creates a wide black border around the entire screen. If you change the resolution higher, the border stays the same and acts like a window onto a part of what you should be seeing - hard to explain. Anyway, I had a tech come out to look at and talked to Sony a couple of times and their answer was that it was designed that way - although they never gave me a believable reason for it.

If you hook up with an hdmi or component cable, you should be ok but even with hdmi, the desktop still doesn't look right. However for video it's fine and I use it that way every day.

Maybe this happen with 50" and higher , but with 32" & 40" i think no black border around the screen

If your looking for the best 40" LCDs then you should be looking at either the Samsung LE40M87BD (http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=television&type=television&subtype=tftlcd&model_cd=LE40M87BDX/XEU) or the Toshiba 40XF355D (http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/products.nsf/pages/lcdplasma-regzaxf-40XF355D?opendocument) models as they are regarded as the two best available in the UK. Followed by the new 40" Sony model. The Samsung does have the best panel of the three followed closely by the Toshiba. I myself went with the Toshiba as the actual TV itself just looks a lot more beautiful and fits in the same space as a 37" LCD. The Sony is pretty good but having seen them all up close its black levels just arent upto par with the Sammy or Tosh.

If you live in the US you should definitely check out the Toshiba 40XF550U (http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/televisions/lcd/product.asp?model=40xf550u) as its pretty much the same as the 40XF355D only it has 120Hz making it even better. Highly recommended TVs

I dont like 1080P for gaming. I had a Sony 40inch HD ready and now have a Samsung 40inch HD-ready tv (1366x768). I'm sitting approximately less then 2 meters away from the screen, and image quality is really good, even from 1 meter distance. Games look amazing. When i still had a x1900GT games that would not run on 1680x1050 suddenly run great on my HDTV @ 1366x768 which is a great plus point for me.
2 Friends of mine both have a 32inch Hd-ready TV on there desk and even when they have a view distance of maybe 60cm or 80cm games look amazingly good. So if you ask me there's no need for a Full-HD tv.

I currently have my 32" 1366x768 tv hooked up as a monitor and its ok for gaming. Nowhere near as good as the 40" but its acceptable so long as you dont sit too close. they should really make more 32" 1080p TVs cause i would definitely buy one then for my PC monitor. The Sharp is nice but its frame is huge so that would make it an awful monitor.

We use to own the Sony KDL-40W2000 which was a brilliant picture sound etc.. We recently just traded it for the Sony KDL-40X3000 as it had MotionFlow 100hz.
We didn't expect to see much of a difference as this is the only option which seperated it from our old TV.
But.. I would seriously recommend going to see the newer 100hz models to the older 60/75hz ones as the difference is apparent very quickly.

I use(d) the TV for gaming on both the PS3 and PC both using 1080p
Personally i cannot say i'd use the TV as an everyday thing for a PC monitor.. It's nice to see what it looks like once but it's far to big for an everyday. I was having to sit at least 2 metres back and even though text is quite large and very clear i still needed to use magnify glass to make the text/icons out most of the time.

"World in Conflict" I couldn't make stuff out, it's just all to small at 1080p
"Flight Simulator X" Looked great and everything, I recommend it for that. Apart from the sitting in a bean bag with a joystick.
"Trackmania" Would strongly advise the TV for this.. That was fun.
"Counter-Strike 1.6" No, just.. NO
I've tried a few other PC games but honestly i just can't see ever using a screen this size as a monitor even if i could put it on a desk so i could situp properly and play.

I use it for the PS3, but for some reason the size doesn't seem to be as apparent as the PC and its very comfortable to use. Excellent for all games on the PS3 imo.
I would say that's why i wouldn't recommend it for PC.. FPS games. On the PS3 you cannot turn as fast obviously as you can with a mouse, so it's fine.
But you quickly swing round on the PC it totally messes with your eyes and brain. Not just making you feel sick but you start having difficulty keeping your eyes open when you turn.
Even on the "New" Sony with 100hz i still felt this.

Well
Both Samsung LE40M87BD and Toshiba 40XF550U are amaizing TVs but both are pricelly

Also i re consider the screen size , i think 32" or 37" are just fine for desk and much cheaper than 40" size

fiskov , thank you dude for sharing your experience

I think i will buy This one
