Title says it all. How well will the Mach ll or the vapochill lightspeed cool the QX9650?

Okay but not great.

Are there better single stage around? All I saw where those two searching with google.

From custom builders yes, myself, Runmc, Gomeler, and Jinu would be your USA based builders. However we've all switched to standard non custom work, so I guess we're standard builders now. You can contact one of us however the rules for selling are through for sale only on XS.

Runmc lives in Texas also.

I don't build single-stagers anymore except for close friends, so count me out. Moving into more fun/colder builds  I imagine the VapoLS or Mach II GT would do a decent job holding a QX9650 around 4.2-4.5GHz as it does run a shade cooler than the G0 quads. If Anandtech's article on Yorkfield is correct, past 4.1GHz to 4.2GHz, the power consumption skyrockets, which does make sense as vcore required tends to jump from sub 1.3v for 3.6GHz to 1.45GHz for 4.5GHz and 1.7v for 5GHz. Just something to keep in mind, they did an excellent writeup on the chip.

I have my 9650 running on a regassed MachII at 4250 (1.5V) (whoops need to update my sig!)

100% stable running FAH on 3 cores 24/7

Different temps on different cores - but you can probably expect to keep your CPU on average between 10 and 20 degrees C with a stock standard unit.

Still better than air or water :)

Encouraging, :)
Been playing with a QX for a few months on a P5E mobo and I think I have a fairly reasonable overclocker, Folding 24/7 @ 4gig, 1.328v vcore under a Storm G5, going over 4.2g needs 1.4v with a corresponding jump in core temps, so I'm thinking of swapping it into my MachII rig, B3 stepping Q6600 24/7, 3.6g @ 1.5v vcore which holds that fine, (currently -30c @ 28c room temps) not looking for Max overclock, just the stability of the Q6600/MachII rig at maybe 4.2g with lower vcore,
It's probably been discussed before, but does going from say 4g @ 50-60c core temps, to 4g @ sub ambient temps offer the possibility of a slightly lower vcore, or a small speed increase at the same vcore ?
