I'm helping a friend build a new PC and I had a question about memory compatibility.
I'd appreciate if anyone can confirm for me whether or not this memory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148078) will give me any problems on a Gigabyte GA-P31-S3G (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128077)? I dont see it listed on this board's qualified vendors list but I understand the QVL's are usually limited in what memory a board can support. Thanks.

No one can offer any advice for this memory on this Gigabyte board?
Oh well. I might just get memory that is listed on the QVL to be sure then. He doesnt need high performance memory since he wont be gaming or overclocking much. I'm considering two sticks of this Patriot RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220089&Tpk=PSD251280081). Very cheap and should do the job.

Since I'm really not asking much of the memory for this system, just for it to be compatible and do what it's advertised to do, I concluded I can just go for the best value. At $12.99 per 512MB stick the price on that Patriot RAM is right.
Thanks.

zanzabar, yeah I know memory on the QVL isnt required, but I just didnt want to run into any compatibility issues.
And thanks for the links. I think I'm just going with that PC2 6400 Patriot RAM I posted above.
