well, as most people on this forum probably have, im going to upgrade my 22" lcd to a 24" for movie watching/playing stuff with 1080p

color quality is important but i am not a photographer or anything like that
no ghosting/low refresh rate is important!
speakers - no please
hdmi input - would be nice.. then i could hook up my friends ps3 to it and play blue ray disks
decent stand - would love up and down adjustment, but its not obviously not the deciding factor unless everything else is equal..

what is spva mpva and tn and whats best for me?

what are some good monitors in the $350-$450 range for me?

Dont waste money on 24 incher. Buy DEll SP2208WFP it has all what u need. If u HAVE to buy 24 incher then Dell 2407WFP Ultrasharp.

Dont waste money on 24 incher. B

waste money, sorry couldn't resist :) :welcome: to XS here we like faster, bigger & better hardware.

I'm no expert on monitors so I'll let someone else explain the difference in panel types but I do not a very good site for comparing different monitors. Check out Digital Versus (http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=6)

this is a great site for all things lcd.
as for panel types, stay away from tn panels.
after purchasing my 24inch monitor,i bought a spyder express lcd calibrator.
best 90 bucks i purchased.for me it made a huge difference once calibrated

im stuck

currently considering:
g2400w OR g2400wa (seem to be the same, but the second lacks dvi and hdmi support.. which on second thought i dont really care about considering the price difference)
samsung 245b or 245bw (whats the difference)
iiyama prolite b2403ws (does this only come with a UK power plug thing? im in us)
hp w2408h

kind of dont know what to get for watching movies and gaming.. these all seem like cheap solutions

i dont know about that link you posted man.. it rates the g2400w as better then the 2408wfp which is comparing a 6bit to 8bit panel..

i dont know what to do - live with a crt monitor for a month or longer and wait for 24" 8bit panels to get cheaper and get more money or drop the money now and get a tn panel with great response and low ghosting (might be better anyways)

The Dell 2408wfp has horrendous input lag if you check digital versus. 69ms avrege I wouldn't touch that with even a stick if you plan on gaming

why does it rate the lag so high, but in the pic of gaming lag it doesnt look too bad?

26" at least.

22" to 24" is not a big jump in size.

I had one, loved it. great color and the size seemed to dwarf my 22". best monitor on the market in that price range.

i think im getting that haans g 28" screen for $500... and yes i know things look sorta blueish in the dark but it has little to no ghosting, and seems like a great monitor for movie watching. it also has hdmi input, and comes with a dvi to hdmi cable (good cuz it doesnt have a dvi port)

I second this advice. A saw it on a friend's place. Beautiful.
Fonts are small for me, but otherwise, recommended.
