I wanted to know if you can flash your card's bios with
another manufacturer's bios.

I think this may have been asked dozens of times, but
I couldn't find any stickies or FAQs that have this question,
so I'm just going ahead and spewing my noobish comments.

Basically, one of the cards I want to flash is my
ATi Original x1950 Pro 256MB PCI-E

I found a HIS x1950 Pro 256MB PCI-E bios that cranks up
the clocks from the reference clocks ~570 / ~685 , which
is what my ATi original card is running right now (default)
to 635 / 743

So can I flash this bios onto the ATi card or will there be
severe repercussions if I do that?

(same question applies for a eVGA 8800 GT and a Sapphire HD 3870
I also have in my possessions)

Thanks for the help/replies. :D

In most cases it should work fine. Just make sure that your X1950 Pro is capable of the new frequencies by testing them before flashing.

Always keep a spare PCI card and write down the exact flashing process so you can flash back blindly, like: down, down, flash command, enter, escape (for example).

Yes should be fine if the memory used by the 2 boards are the same. If you flash your card with a bios with tighter timing, it may not work.
