uninstalled NV control panel and gfx drivers from GF's computer, now the system does't know the card is there at all and won't install new drivers. I get a no supported hardware found error. I looked, and don't see it in device manager either. system is intel 915g chipset, P4 2.93, with a zotac px6600. BIOS is still set for pcie being primary video device. did i coincidentally blow the card at the moment of driver uninstall or what? fan still blowing on gfx card, and no scorched smell....
any thoughts?

Always include full system info and which driver you're trying to install.
There's nothing wrong with your card, just post the info and we'll get you going.

Sort of. the setting doesn't enable or disable, it makes one: pice, pci, igp, the primary vid. haven't seen that before.

directX is the most recent...few weeks ago. (just installed this, might be related)
zotac PX6600 pcie
WAS running XG mod'd 169.61
installed ntune 6.10 to get to the advanced tabs in the NV control panel. after installing this, any adjustments made in the NV control panel would crash the VID. screen would go completely black and would have to do a hard restart.
i realize this is a bad thing. so i uninstall the control panel first, then the drivers. boot into safe mode, and run driver cleaner pro( i use the paid version). after reboot, nothing. totally black screen. i plug the monitor back into the onboard, monitor is back on. i tried to install new drivers, was going to try out XG mod'd 174.74, but the driver install stops and gives that NV found no supported hardware on your system, the install will not continue.
I just installed that new directX right before I uninstalled the NV driver and control panel so I'm thinking this might be part of the prob. will try reinstalling directX.
double checked the BIOS, it's still set at PCIE being the primary vid device. switched it back to onboard, restarted, then back to pcie again just to see if resetting it would help. it didn't.
I've run a number of different utilities to look at sys specs, and they all read that pcie slot as empty. but, like i said, it's still powered because the gfx card fan still comes on.

mm... physically remove the v.card; boot up ur system using onboard graphics.. then switch PC off. Flick the PSU off @ back. Re-insert v.card, flick on PSU, turn on.. see what happens..
