HI,

I got a standard U2 UFO. I was brainstorming about chaning it a bit.

Can you turn the backplat 90 degrees so the mobo lies flat? without causing it to interfere with the DVD's? or anything else?

thanks!

You can turn it 90, 180, 270 whatever. You won't have any problems with the DVD's, only problem might be with support under the motherboard. You might have to come up with a spacer under the mb tray and the bottom of the case.

yes, and MM makes a Horizontal motherboard brace that supports the other end of the mobo tray so that it doesn't just bend under the weight.

There is a tab at the bottom of the MB tray that screws into the floor of the case. It might interfere with the window on the side. It may need to be cut off or bent out of the way.

How are the older(non modular) cases connected? Can you still take those older ones apart? I'm getting a UFO shortly but a little bit older one. Think I could rotate the back?

Took the jump today and took it apart!

It worked, just had to replace the dvd to the top rail.

I love it, it has more space for my cables and 2 loops! And i can see my motherboard even better.

I made a good choice i believe.

How is the motherboard supported?

And BlueAqua, it depends on how old, the original style was non modular, and I think the front/back/bottom panels were welded to the frame (could be wrong though)

You're right. I have that model so I can't flip it. The front, back and bottom panels are welded to the frame. Really durable though.

I would just call or email Mountain Mods themselves and I'm sure they could help you out.
