Since I have a p4c800, I'll probably need a 2nd psu for prommy whenever I get it. Will 300 watts be enough?

Since I have a store credit at newegg, I can get one if 300 isnt enough. If 300 is good enough, Im getting a 2.4c:banana:

More than enough ! I think the total power rquired on the promie is under 2a, I've even seen someone running it off a 1600ma psu from radioshack. Its only powering the 2 fans, the display, and the relay to turn on the compressor.

Why would you need a 2nd PSU? I just got a p4c800e and a 2.4c for my prommie mach1. I currently use a TrueControl 550w PSU and I am in the States. I was not aware of any PSU issues. ;)

I read in one of the threads that certain Intel mobos have a starting issue with the prommies, that you can get around with a 2nd PSU. I thought it was the IC7, but since Amoeba has an Asus it could be that one ??

I was aware of starting problems with 404 modded Vapos, but was not aware of Prommie starting problems due to insufficient power. Please, someone fill me in on this?

Thanks :D

Yes, the prommy I has reset hold issues with both the P4C800 and the IC7 so I'm using a seperate PSU.

Man, that sucks....I didn't even know about that...I might have bought a different board had I known. Would a 240 Meanwell work to power the prommie?

He said it takes as little as 2 amps so i would assume so...

If you really dont want to get another psu, you can try this.

- Boot your comp up, try to be at stock speeds
- Put in a floppy
- It will go to the replace non system disk screen
- Let it sit on that screen for about 2 minutes or so until the prommy is fully powered
- Take out the floppy & oc

Thanks, but I don't plan on being anywhere near stock speeds when I boot up my modded prommie. :D

Bowman, its sorta hit or miss with the reset issue. Some peeps have had problems others haven't. Neither the P4C800 or the IC7 I have will work in my promie without using seperate psu.

Its because of a new winbond chip that started using on the new CW and SD boards.

It doesn't take much to power the promie, You might be able to find a 12v psu that plugs into the wall outlet that can provide enough juice. I've seen someone here using a 1600ma psu from radioshack and he said it worked fine.

Gleep is who posted the pic and this:

I picked up a 12 volt 1500ma powersupply from radio shack to power my prom on. Since I have external drives anyways I use a power strip to power on the external drives and the prom then at the correct temp you just hit the computer on switch. The powersupply was $20 at the local RS, I cut the PS wire and soldered a standard molex connector to it. Of course I have a prom 1, I'm not sure if the prom 2 uses more or less power.

I also had reset issues with my P4P800.... I used an old PSU and it worked fine, it is also better this way, you can turn off the PC for a minor change (replace RAM, VGA etc) without turning off the prommie :D
