Since this has to be plugged into the psu, how big of a psu would i need to run it with a system also. My 2nd psu will be reseved for gpu pelt, and my 400w antec i plan to use has 18 amps on the 12v rail. What is reccommended and will that be enough?

Seriously, bigger is better ! I'd say atleat 24a on 12v if you intend to power both the vapochill and mb. I'm running mine off my PC Power & Cooling wich is rated at 38a on 12v. I also ran it off my Antec 550w wich is rated at 24a without problems.

From manual:

Start-up mode
• Cut-in voltage: 10.9 V
• Peak current @ 12 V (50 ms): 12 A ± 1 A
• Peak current @ 10 V (50 ms): 14 A ± 1 A
Continuous mode
• Voltage: 9.6 V
• Current: See Cooling System Specifications
In order for the cooling system to work properly, the power supply used
should meet the above minimum requirements. The peak current is only
required during the compressors start-up procedure. In order for the
compressor to work continuously, the PSU must under no circumstances go
below 9.6 V – even for only a very short time.
The above applies to the VapoChill system only. Please, keep in mind that
hardware such as CPU, graphics adapter, hard drives etc. also require a
certain amount of power.

I've run the vapo by itself off a 12v 13a psu with no problems, like Jason points out, spend the money and get a good psu !!

I run a Vapo PE with a TTGI 520watt PSU.

12v and 5v rock, even with the Swifty MXW50-T installed :)

The thing to keep in mind with a compressor is that it needs a lot of current to start, but once the compressor is running, it only needs a fraction of that. If you start the compressor before you start everything else, the psu just has to be powerful enough to start the compressor, and then it will probably be powerful enough to run the compressor along with everything else. Unless, of course, your "everything else" also requires a lot of power.

I hope that makes sense. I have my lucid moments, but not all of my moments are lucid... LOL

I assume this same PSU is powering the rest of your rig. Right?

Thinking about getting a Vapo and I have an antec 550 True Control. This would be the only PSU I need, yeah?

Thanks

I run Antec True Control here myself, as well as the big Enermax's.

I find these TC's from Antec are very good with the easily-adjustable 12, 5 and 3 volt rails... all from the front of your case.. :)

when I had a PE, I used antec true 550... and as far as a psu for your system and the vapo? I'd look for like 24a on 12v like Major suggested
