I bought an AC for 150 dollars the other day and was thinking to build it to a chiller but then decided if wouldn´t be better to build my own phase change. I took the AC apart and am now wondering what to do next.

Here are some details on the machine:
9000 BTU
240V
cooling capacity is 2500W
HP PS <2.6MPa
LP PS< 0.7MPa
refrigerant R407c, 680g

Is that a good compressor?

If I do decide to build a phase change cooler would it be possible to safely remove and keep the refrigerant so to use it later on? Is it also possible to change the refrigerant or is that not adwised? If it is, what other refrigerants are good and possible to use with my compressor?

I'd keep it to cool your room, over powered frankly, it would be a waste of a nice A/C.

Get a compressor from a large degassed fridge and it would be more inline with what one would want.
