Hiya Guys,
anyone know what the largest array you can make on the below mobo?
coz ICH9R says at 3x 750GB the array isn't bootable? I knock it back to 2x 750GBs and it's fine
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help

i could have sworn windows has a 2TB limit per volume and you would hit that before you hit a controller limitation.

well when i create the array with 3x 750GB it just says not bootable - and that's in the ich9r rom - before i get to install vista, i've never had an issue like this. I'm thinking of buy a seperate card and trying that.

Well i got to the bottom of that - u can't make a bootable array/volume of 2TB and over.
But why when i make an array of just 2x 750GB does the array fail after a restart? Any ideas?

i shouldn't need to load any drivers in vista - i didn't with my 3x 320GB drives. But for some reason with 2x 750GB drives i can create an array install vista and then when i shutdown and restart it tells me the array has failed in the ICH9R post info and won't load vista

windows has a limitation and would not allow booting larger drive of 2tb. i think linux can but im not sure. and to work with larger than 2tb volumes you need xp64 or vista to be able to recognize it.

No problem, i found out that u cant make a bootable volume of 2TB on vista, but it turns out that a BIOS update on the Maximus Extreme below sig (1001 to 1004) killed the RAID controller on the southbridge, hence the 2x 750GBs failing after a shuutdown.
So i have the 2x 750GB Samsungs on my FX-62/Asus Crosshair nForce 590 SB without any issue, so if i'm gonna have to rebuild it i might water cool the sb/nb and mosfets as eddy has a sb block now
