What a pre modded panel?

No they don't have any pre modded panels for the 690. Its not exactly considered a high end case where companies would want to sell pre modded panels. But a window mod is among one of the easiest to do. So why not try it yourself. If you need some help the video here should cover what you need.

one of the reason is I dont want to mess it up
I was going to buy this with my order to newegg but out of stock, and then I was going to try modding the stock side panel, and that way if i f*ed up, It wouldn't matter

There have been rumors of a pre modded side panel but it never came to be.

Now as far as messing up on the mod i don't see how. Mark out the general area you want to cut out. Be sure to mark and make your cut from the back side of the panel. This will help to keep the original finish in tact so you won't ave to go and paint it. If your going to use a Dremel to cut the hold then i garenty the tool will slip and you will cut some srapes in areas outside of the cut you want to make. It won't be anything that will go threw the material but it does look bad. Thats why you make the cuts on the back side so no one will see it. After you have it cut you can either file it all down nice and smooth or get some U-chennel to cover the cut edge.

Then all you need is a sheet of Acrylic that will give you at least 1/2" of overlap larger then your hole. Then you can either tape it into place like the video shows or you can drill some holes and use pop rivets.

Now there is another possibility. I haven't cut a window on my CM 690. I am wanting to cut one just haven't settled on a design yet. So here is what we can do. You can give me a design. If i like it i will mod my side panel with it. Get it all set up and take detailed pictures of it for you. If you are satisfied with the results then we will trade panels. Of course i'll need some money to cover cost of materials and my time. If your interested in something like this then send me a PM and we'll work something out.

Check my sig for my 2 latest projects. Just a reference so you know i'm able to do a good job on the panel.

This is my favorite case window. Its the only picture i have of it and its a very crappy picture too. But i prefer to stay away from the basic windows. I like to have something a little more original. This was also my first case mod. Took a triangle from one of those ruler sets and just started to trace it on the case and thats what i came up with. The bottom part in the middle was a bit bare so i put a tear drop shape there. I have long since tossed the case. Every time i think about it i get pissed for not saving that side panel. I kept the motherboard tray and drive bays from the case but didn't keep that side panel.

The CM690 pre-mod side panel (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999177) came to be but its just out of stock and not widely available. But yea its good to have a back up plan but once you plan out your mod, get everything prepared and make that first cut you should be golden. I remember my first mod and that first cut was so nerve-racking but once I got past that I was fine.
