Hola,

I actually skipped the 939 era, I went from Socket A/462 to AM2. A buddy of mine just handed my a motherboard (Asus A8N SLI) and a X2 3800 (Toledo I believe). We can't get it to post. The motherboard powers up the Video Cards but the fans all spin at max speed. We get no beeps - nothing. So I don't know if it's the processor or the motherboard that got whacked. He said he touched the computer case and he got static electricity zapping action. So, I think the motherboard got zapped.

Anyway, I had a question for all you AMD/939 folks. What are the best 939 SLI Motherboards for OCing?? If anyone has a 939 motherboard for sale please PM me. Any opinions on how to figure out what's fried without using another motherboard and processor would be great! Thanks!!

Chris

I would guess that the bios has been corrupted.

The best overclocking motherboard without doubt is the DFI Expert.

I have one here, but getting it to the U.S is another matter.

Best overclockers are respectively Expert if you plan on using BH5 memory and Venus if you are looking at TCCD/UCCC

Plain sli-d is also a good mobo.

I forgot about the Venus :) It would be hard to get I imagine, there wasn't a whole lot of them made.

Yup, it wasn't very popular due to the BH5 craze therefore there may be very few about. To my knowledge you can flash Expert bios to venus and the way around, though as far as i can remember the venus was somehow tuned for the higher latencies.

Yep the Venus was a limited edition, it had better caps on it and was tuned for better overclocking. IIRC there were only 500 of them made, they came in a nice wooden case and had a few other extras thrown in.
I was offered one and knocked it back because the Expert was $100 cheaper. I've regretted it ever since.

There were 1000 made, but max 998 working boards left atm (I wrecked 2 myself:D )

My SLI-DR was a great clocker and very stable, I would recommend it to anyone.

I still have my Expert hehe;)
Take that Asus mobo out of the case and have a close look at it if you think it's fried.
Check all the little things too, but if there is no beep it's usually cpu or mobo:(

I'm going to pressume you've done the obvious and cleared CMOS/disconnected the battery with the mobo out of the case on the mobo box? And tried a different psu?

I kind of liked the CFX3200-DR even for how quirky it was.
